Duration:
The duration of this contract will be approximately 4 months. Applicants are expected to fulfill the entire contract period commencing January 6, 2025 to April 25, 2025.
Position Description:
Reporting to the Director, Planning or designate, the incumbent will be expected to carry out a variety of tasks relating to various aspects of municipal land use planning functions, such as:
- Assist Planning staff with development applications and public meetings
- Research and analysis relating to the County Official Plan, Zoning Bylaw, Secondary Plans and specific topics
- Help undertake special projects, process improvements and reports
- Front counter customer service and assisting development stakeholder interests
- Data analysis and metrics
- Potential preparation of online public information, visualizations or other engagement tools
Requirements
Qualifications:
- College or University Student enrolled in a discipline related to Planning, Environmental Studies or Geography
- Computer expertise with preference given to knowledge in design software, GIS and more advance knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Understanding of how a municipality functions
- Ability to visualize concepts and turn them into workable solutions
- Excellent listening skills, coupled with a desire to learn new concepts
- Good time management, interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills
- Employment is conditional upon: attendance at all training sessions, submission of required documentation/certification, adherence to the minimum age requirements and ability to meet the employment term.
- At time of application must be enrolled in a post-secondary education institution or institution of higher learning.
- Applicants must submit a criminal record check (dated within the last 3 months) from their local police service for approval prior to commencing employment.
