The Pit Utility Supervisor directs mine operation projects, crusher operations, and dewatering, and road maintenance of the Red Dog Mine to attain established objectives through the safe, efficient use of personnel and equipment
Rotation schedule will be an even rotation, 2 weeks on-site and 2 weeks off-site

- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Protect the safety and health of employees by promoting and enforcing safe working procedures and health, hygiene programs in accordance with Company policy and appropriate regulations
- Ensure the Mine Operation complies with all environmental regulations
- Effectively manage the operating crews by following, enforcing and administering company policies in a fair and equitable manner
- Effectively respond to crew concerns where possible and communicate issues that are outside your area of control
- Coordinate, schedule and monitor crushing, pit projects, road maintenance and dewatering activities on a shift basis and to motivate his/her crew to safely and efficiently meet the production objectives at minimum cost
- Communicate effectively with the Engineering, Geology, Maintenance and Mill Operations departments in providing information and coordinating activities to ensure development, production and grade objectives are realized as defined in the Operating Plan
- Complete required daily, weekly and monthly inspections necessary for ensuring uninterrupted operations at the mine
- Complete the necessary equipment reporting requirements accurately and in a timely fashion to ensure that we have proper amount of equipment available
- Oversee the development and training of personnel to ensure safe work practices and conditions, productive employees and to participate in hiring, discipline and terminations, as required, in accordance with Company policy Close cooperation with the Mine Trainers is required to achieve uniform goals and standards of operator capabilities
- Represent and support the Company in its goals and objectives through regular crew meetings, safety meetings and by monitoring and changing crew performance
- Act in the capacity of Mine Shift, Mine Operations during absences, as required
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Seven (7) years of open pit mining experience
- One (1) year of Crushing experience
- One (1) year of Lead-hand Supervisory experience
- Must have a working knowledge of MSHA Standards.
- Excellent interpersonal abilities, self-motivated, with a willingness to train others
- Highly motivated team player
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly spreadsheet, word processing and presentation applications
- Excellent problem solving skills and decision making abilities
- Proven and exemplary leadership skills
