Position Summary:
We are seeking a Sr. Research Associate of in vivo Pharmacology who will be responsible for independently developing and performing studies in animal models across different disease areas. This individual will interact seamlessly with Discovery Biology and other Research groups to help execute on company strategy. The major focus of this position will be the in vivo evaluation of novel cell and genetic therapies, biologics and small molecules across multiple programs to support programs from target validation to identification of clinical candidates.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct in vivo procedures to evaluate efficacy of therapy candidates in rodent models
- Perform standard mouse procedures including blood collection, injections, necropsies, and tissue collection in compliance with established protocols.
- Conduct in life safety assessments: monitor body weight, clinical observations, and survival of mice.
- Ability to analyze, summarize scientific data, and clearly communicate update and report with the team and stakeholders, and perform detailed documentation of experimental results via ELN (Electronic Lab Notebook)
- Data entry into animal management software.
- Analyze and present in vivo data to project team.
- Comply with all laboratory safety procedures.
Ideal Candidate:
- Proficient with partial hepatectomy surgeries. Additional surgery experiences a plus.
- Significant experience processing livers for pathology readouts (IHC, IF, etc.) and familiarity with processing steps.
- Tangible experience isolating and culturing rodent hepatocytes. Additional experience with magnetic isolation of parenchymal cells is advantageous.
- Substantial experience processing serum, plasma, and livers ex vivo for downstream analytics (e.g. dPCR, qPCR, ELISAs) including high-throughput homogenization of samples independently.
- Must be able to manage time and competing priorities across a rich portfolio.
Requirements:
- Bachelor in Biosciences with 5+ years of industry/academia experience or MSc with 2+ years of industry experience
- Experience using rodent models of liver diseases to support drug discovery and development.
- Proficient in standard in vivotechniques (animal handling, blood collection, dosing (SQ, IV, IM, and IP), necropsy, tissue dissections)
- Familiar with IACUC and compliance requirements
- Collaborative mindset and a willingness to work with different teams.
- This position is on-site in Cambridge, MA and requires hand-on experience and being in the lab and vivarium. Ability to work on weekends on a rotating schedule.
