Position Summary:
Pioneering Medicines is seeking a highly motivated and experienced leader with deep subject matter expertise & scientific acumen in Immunology/Inflammation drug discovery to lead research and projects focused on developing novel therapies for autoimmune disease. The successful candidate will work cross-functionally to support all aspects of drug discovery, from early mechanism of action studies to early clinical development. We are seeking individuals who are analytical, goal-oriented, and timeline-sensitive, while maintaining the highest of scientific and ethical standards. Strong communication skills and comfort working in a dynamic and cross-functional team environment are highly desirable.
Responsibilities:
- Involved in identifying novel pathways and mechanisms within Immunology/Inflammation
- Direct mechanism of action/feasibility studies and design of research plans to support formation of new projects
- Facilitate lead ID/optimization to preclinical support of the research programs in Immunology/Inflammation therapeutic areas
- Responsible for leading cutting-edge research efforts in Immunology/Inflammation in collaboration with Flagship platform companies
- Participate in external partnerships and collaboration efforts with CROs to advance pipeline programs in Immunology/Inflammation
Qualifications and Requirements
- Ph.D or M.D/Ph.D in Immunology or related areas. Candidates with MD should have strong basic drug discovery research.
- Postdoctoral experience in Immunology/Inflammation related areas and strong record of scientific publications
- 6-10 years of industry experience in Immunology/Inflammation research with a focus on autoimmune diseases
- Experience in small molecule/antibody drug discovery
- Subject matter expertise in both in vitro assays, primary cell assays, in vivo models, familiarity with DMPK and Safety studies required to advance molecules from Hit to Lead to IND.
- Record of accomplishment of initiating programs in discovery setting and driving to the clinic is required.
- Experience managing Ph.D and non-Ph.D scientist of varying levels.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in building strong teams, ability to motivate, influence, develop/mentor others.
- Ability to present clear and compelling scientific and business cases.
- This position is on-site in Cambridge, MA.
