The Team

Across our work in Science, Education, and within our communities, we pair technology with grantmaking, impact investing, and collaboration to help accelerate the pace of progress toward our mission. Our Central Operations & Partners team provides the support needed to push this work forward.

The Physical Security team’s mission is to provide a safe and secure workspace for all CZI Employees, Contingent Workers, and Visitors. We provide 24/7 support through our Security Operations Center (SOC), a hub for all emergency and non-emergency security needs. We also respond to all security inquiries, issues, concerns, and suggestions driven by our worker population.  

The OpportunityThe CZI Physical Security Manager position will require proficiency in the administration and operation of the Access Control System, Video Management System, Visitor Management System, and internal ticketing and scheduling systems. Responsible for identifying and mitigating physical security risks throughout the organization. This position will also require organizational and leadership skills to ensure all Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) of physical security vendors are followed. 


Qualified candidates have a solid technical background and the ability to solve complex problems, which may require engagement with multiple teams (contingent and directly associated with CZI). This position will work with industry professionals and management to meet the organizational goals of CZI security. 

What You'll Do

  • Manage day-to-day physical security operations, identify and mitigate risks, and ensure a safe and secure workspace.
  • Oversee security vendors, ensure compliance with CZI policies and procedures, and manage relationships.
  • Respond to critical security incidents, lead escalations, and execute incident response processes.
  • Maintain security operation runbooks, interpret logs and reports, and drive process improvements.
  •  Manage security-related business plans, operating budgets, and inventory of equipment and keys.
  • Coordinate security logistics for special events and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

What You'll Bring

  • 5+ years of physical security management/supervisory experience within a corporate work environment.
  • A solid technical background with hands-on experience in security technologies, including access control systems, video management systems, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Proven ability to lead and influence others, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively convey security information and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • A proactive and analytical mindset with the ability to identify, analyze, and solve complex security challenges.
  • A strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and individuals. 
  • A self-motivated and self-reliant approach to work, with a strong sense of ethics and values based on integrity and trust

Compensation

The Redwood City, CA base pay range for this role is $135,000.00 - $203,000.00. New hires are typically hired into the lower portion of the range, enabling employee growth in the range over time. Actual placement in range is based on job-related skills and experience, as evaluated throughout the interview process. Pay ranges outside Redwood City are adjusted based on cost of labor in each respective geographical market.
