PhD Researcher/ Gas Researcher - Trading

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented PhD researcher to join our dynamic gas trading team. As a PhD researcher, you will contribute to cutting-edge research on the pricing, risk management, and financial dynamics of gas energy markets, with a focus on the evolving landscape of trading strategies and market behaviours.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Conduct original and high-quality research in the field of gas energy commodities, focusing on market modelling, pricing strategies, and risk management techniques.
• Analyse market data, including spot and futures prices, trading volumes, supply-demand dynamics, and geopolitical factors that impact the natural gas market.
• Develop advanced quantitative models and simulation tools to support research into financial trading strategies for gas commodities.
• Investigate the impact of regulatory changes, market liberalization, and technological advancements on gas energy markets and trading practices.
• Stay up-to-date with developments in energy economics, financial markets, and commodity trading techniques to ensure research relevance and innovation.

• Recently graduated or graduating PhD in a relevant field such as Energy Economics, Financial Engineering, Quantitative Finance, Economics, or related disciplines.
• Strong background in financial modelling, econometrics, and/or quantitative analysis applied to commodity markets, particularly gas energy markets.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, MATLAB, GAMS or similar tools used for data analysis, modelling, and simulation.
• Understanding of financial markets
• Experience with statistical analysis, time series modelling, and machine learning techniques applied to market data.
• Familiarity with gas supply chains, infrastructure, and the factors that influence energy pricing and trading strategies.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of gas and/or LNG economics

Preferred Skills:

• Knowledge of energy trading platforms
• Experience in research collaboration with industry partners or regulatory bodies.
• Previous work or internship experience in energy markets, financial trading, or related areas
