Pharmacy Buyer

We’re looking for a dynamic and proactive pharmacy purchasing specialist to join Phlo as our Pharmacy Buyer. This is a full time, permanent role within the Pharmacy team that works closely with Finance to build and grow supplier relationships and ensure we receive the best possible pricing. This role will be based from our Manchester site, with travel to our Pharmacy sites (London, Birmingham and future sites in England) as required.

You’ll be a results-driven self-starter, able to effectively understand the needs of our pharmacy, finance, data and commercial teams. A key focus of this role will be maintaining robust systems to manage pricing and purchasing, and working with Finance to improve margins as the company scales.

Experience in Pharmacy buying is essential. As a start-up moving into our scale-up phase, someone with exposure to this environment is advantageous.

The Job

On a day-to-day basis, you’ll be involved in the following:

• Leading a new supply chain function focusing on purchasing, pricing and systems and defining strategy
• Securing best purchasing price on pharmacy wholesale products to increase gross margin
• Utilizing wholesaler rebates
• Collaborating with pharmacy, finance, commercial and data departments to forecast purchasing requirements providing for seasonality
• Implementing and continuously improving purchasing systems
• Stock management and profiling 
• Reporting and analysis to key stakeholders on KPIs and market trends
• Maintaining, managing, and growing supplier relationships including payment terms
• Supporting commercial and finance teams with new partnership costings
• Working with pharmacy team to track and chase up credit notes and reduce owings
• Working with finance, pharmacy and various B2B partners to look at purchasing and cash flow

Requirements

Ideally, we’re looking for someone with the following:

• Experience in pharmacy wholesale or retail drug purchasing
• Pharmacy drug knowledge required
• Dynamic purchasing professional comfortable operating with full autonomy
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• Experience of a start-up is advantageous
• A proven track record in the purchasing field
• A willingness to travel to pharmacy sites to understand their needs and build relationships (initially a few times per month reducing to monthly/quarterly)
• Enjoys working with data to drive procurement decisions
• Strong excel skills.

We’re based at Trafford Park in Manchester with close access to the M60 as well as excellent proximity to the tram (5 minutes' walk from Village stop) and bus service routes. We have free onsite parking.
