This is a full-time, hybrid position based in Berlin, Germany. We are a remote-first organization and support mobile and flexible working. This is an interim role (maternity cover) with a one year / 18 months limited contract. Native/C1 level German language skills are required for this role.

Objective of the Role
As a People Operations Manager and a member of the People team, you will work closely with our internal teams and across the business, as well as our external providers. You will act as the “go-to person” for administrative topics covering the full employee life cycle. Working as part of a larger People team, you will advise our teams and managers on all people processes and policies, develop ideas, and implement process improvements whilst proactively contributing to challenging People Team projects. Most importantly, you will be responsible for accurate and timely payroll processing.

As a People team, our work is focused entirely on impacting the lives of more than 100 employees, so they can impact the 25 million lives of our existing scientific researchers and, therefore the lives of 8 billion people worldwide!
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a competent contact person for all our employees.
- Own management and administration of relevant HR systems and tools.
- Own the monthly payroll preparation and handle employee inquiries.
- Create and manage HR administration such as work contracts, letters of references and similar, working closely with our legal and accounting departments.
- Generate an optimal employee experience and help to foster a positive workplace culture.
- Advise on issues around residence and work permits, prepare necessary documents.
- Plan and implement HR-related projects relevant to our Core HR topics and processes.
Requirements:
- You communicate effortlessly in native-level German as well as very good English.
- You possess a great working knowledge of German HR, administration, and legal topics.
- You are extremely detail-oriented and have an eye for optimizing administrative processes.
- You are a proficient MS Office user, in particular MS Excel user, Google Sheets is a plus.
- You fully identify with our culture and feel comfortable representing it.
- You enjoy a certain level of repetitiveness, which challenges you to make processes more efficient and scalable.
- You care deeply about employee well-being and always act in a service-oriented manner.
- You address problems in a solution-oriented way.
- You possess outstanding organizational skills and can prioritize and effectively handle day-to-day business parallel to long-term projects.
Your Profile:
- 3-5 years of HR Experience, including familiarity with HR information systems, BambooHR is a plus.
- Strong strategic and analytical thinking .
- Excellent communication skills.
- Fluent German and English.
- A proactive, solutions-oriented and hands-on attitude and work ethic.
- Ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment and think outside the box.
