People Operations Advisor

London, United Kingdom
  • Are you interested in creating great people experiences?
  • Are you ready to make the next step up in your HR career?

At Cambridge Healthcare Research [CHR], we partner with the world’s largest biopharmaceutical companies, supporting their commercial and strategic decision-making. We employ rigorous primary and secondary research to ensure we provide our clients robust market analysis and actionable recommendations. We strive for excellence in everything we do, through accountability, passion, and dependability.

The company has grown significantly in the last several years to a team of 150 people. As we move from startup to scale-up, we are investing in a range of initiatives and programmes that will drive sustainable growth with our people strategy at the heart of this.

We are now looking for a People Operations Advisor to join our People Team and be part of our ambition to empower our people to reach their potential and deliver the excellence our clients deserve.

The Opportunity

You will be a key partner for our people and managers across the company, delivering high-quality operational and advisory services that reflect our values and centre on providing a positive employee experience for all. You will play an integral role within a People Team that prides itself on proactively solving problems, acting as a thought partner, and driving change that enables the performance and development of our people and creates a fulfilling inclusive working environment in which all of our people can thrive.

You will be joining the team at a pivotal time in CHR’s growth that will provide opportunities to be involved in projects that deliver purposeful progress in how we leverage technology and enhance our ways of working, in an environment where innovation and creative flair are valued. Our 2024 people roadmap includes the recent launch of a new career development framework, a new talent management platform [Culture Amp], the embedding of refreshed values and a range of other exciting new initiatives to enrich our culture.

This role would suit someone who recognises the importance of operational efficiency and delivering excellence across the employee life cycle with a continuous improvement mindset and willingness to learn and iterate our approach as the needs of the business evolve. It is also the perfect opportunity for someone who values building meaningful relationships and is ready to step into an advisory role, and build their critical thinking and business partnering skills that demonstrate how a people team can truly enable business performance. You will be someone who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic professional services environment.

We welcome applicants interested in working either on a full-time or part-time basis [subject to a minimum of 30 hours per week over 4 to 5 days].

Requirements

What You Will Bring to CHR:

You will be adept at managing activities across the employee lifecycle, from coordinating recruitment and onboarding processes to producing employment contracts and managing team mailboxes. You will look to build on your existing HR administrative experience through assuming greater responsibility of all people operations activity, working closely with our People Administrator and HR Manager. Your skills in maintaining accurate employee records and handling payroll and benefits administration will be essential. Additionally, you will have a proven track record in developing and improving HR systems and processes, producing and evolving standard operating procedures, and working effectively with payroll and benefits providers as well as other external partners.

Your in-depth knowledge of UK employment legislation, data protection laws, and HRIS will be invaluable. You will also be proficient with talent management platforms like Culture Amp and e-recruitment systems, and have experience of managing annual performance and reward cycles.

You will bring experience of advising the business on people policies and practices, including how to execute these in a way that aligns with our values. Your passion for building meaningful relationships with managers and other stakeholders will provide you with a platform to grow into a trusted partner to the business.

Key skills include strong interpersonal abilities, effective written and verbal communication, and critical thinking to translate data into insights. You will excel in prioritization, time management, accuracy, and maintaining confidentiality. Proficiency in IT, teamwork within a hybrid working model, and ability to adapt in fast-paced environments are crucial. Supervisory and coaching skills are desirable.

You will bring a passion for delivering excellence, collaborating with others, demonstrating resilience, and showing commercial astuteness. You will proactively seek and act upon feedback, show empathy, support others, and embrace change to support continuous improvement.
