We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Elementary PE Teacher to join our dynamic team, making a positive impact on the health and well-being of young students from Kindergarten to 4th grade. At our school, we believe in the power of physical education to inspire lifelong fitness, teamwork, and a love for healthy living. You will be instrumental in shaping the minds and bodies of our students by promoting active lifestyles and instilling the importance of physical wellness in a fun, engaging, and supportive environment, all while ensuring lessons and activities align with Tennessee state Physical Education (PE) standards and the guidelines set by the Tennessee Department of Education.

Location: Rocketship Dream Community Prep - 5450 Mt View Rd. Antioch, TN 37013.

Essential Functions

  • Motivate students to participate in learning activities; create a positive student culture; maintain high behavioral expectations for all students
  • Adapt a year-long PE scope and sequence map, thematic unit plans, and lesson plans to teach discrete content skills throughout the school year.
  • Differentiates content by age-group and/or grade-level to ensure that activities are developmentally appropriate.
  • Collaborate with school staff to develop a positive culture focused on Rocketship's core values (respect, responsibility, persistence, empathy)
  • Serve as the leader and facilitate large group lessons on the topics indicated above as needed.
  • Communicate and collaborate with fellow ECCs, Science specialists, teachers, and school leaders; participate actively in staff development opportunities as a member of the Rocketship team
  • Ensure that students have access to a positive and productive learning environment by enforcing all campus safety rules and behavior expectations and/or occasional interactions with children who require additional support with behavior
  • Inventory and maintain Enrichment Center materials and accessories
  • Respond to occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor which may include filling in for various classroom staffing needs, dismissal, lunch/recess and PE needs.

Qualifications:

  • Passion for working with children; ability to motivate and support children in reaching high levels of academic success
  • Belief in the value of enrichment education for all children
  • Previous experience or training working with youth
  • Previous experience managing and/or teaching groups of elementary-age students is strongly preferred
  • Content expertise preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to engage and work closely with a wide range of staff members
  • Ability to learn laws, rules, practices and procedures related to public education and specific to Rocketship Education 
  • Fluency in English
  • Flexibility and a willingness to learn
  • BA and PE teaching credential are required

Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to high.

Compensation:
Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
