Payroll Vendor Manager

The Payroll Vendor Manager enables our payroll operations team to pay our global teammates accurately and on time every pay cycle, and in the most efficient way. This role is of course managing the relationship with our payroll vendors, but so much more. 

As a brand new role this requires someone who is eager to build a new vertical from the ground up, designing the strategic vision on how we best deliver payroll services with third party vendors. Overseeing the vendor’s performance, negotiated on contractual terms, whilst also establishing best practices that can scale to enable the business and Wolt payroll function to succeed.

  • Visionary Builder: Take on the challenge of building our brand-new vendor management vertical globally for Wolt payroll.

  • Strategic Leader: Partner with our outsourced payroll vendors to ensure that our global teammates are paid accurately and on time every pay cycle.

  • Service Provider Mindset: Design our “North Star” third party strategic vision to enable our operations team to deliver payroll services that allow continued business growth.

  • Partnership: Design best practice governance and ways of working with our vendors, focusing on how we partner and review overall performance.

  • Negotiator: Lead contract negotiations with payroll vendors, including pricing, service levels, and compliance, while owning the relationship with sales teams.

  • Selection: Develop a framework on how and when we review and select our partners, supporting the operations team through the selection processes, and ensuring we have an up-to-date view of the global payroll vendor landscape.

  • Change Leader: Be fully immersed in any payroll vendor transformation activities, and own the roadmap on significant change activity with our vendors.

  • Self-Improvement Enthusiast: Operate with a mindset of continuous performance improvement to streamline and automate payroll services, leveraging the latest technologies to ensure we get 1% better every day.

  • Cost Management: Manage invoicing, identify, and make recommendations for cost-efficiency opportunities in our service delivery. Bring and build external benchmark data on unit economics.

  • Great Communicator: Excel in clear, concise, and effective communication across various stakeholders, including vendors, internal teams, and senior leadership. Foster open lines of communication to ensure all parties are informed, aligned, and engaged. Utilize your communication skills to build strong relationships, facilitate negotiations, and drive collaborative efforts that support the overall success and efficiency of our payroll operations.

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in vendor management or a related field, with proven leadership of a team or vertical and direct responsibility for function-specific KPIs.

  • Experience in dynamic, fast-paced, and constantly changing environments, ideally in the technology sector.

  • Capability of building and developing a new vendor management vertical from scratch and designing strategic visions for scalable payroll service delivery with third-party vendors.

  • Skilled in overseeing vendor performance, establishing effective governance, and negotiating contracts focused on pricing, service levels, and compliance.

  • Leadership in transformation projects with payroll vendors, owning significant change initiatives.

  • Ability to develop frameworks for vendor selection and review processes, manage cost efficiency, and leverage external benchmark data for service delivery.

  • Excellent communication skills for engaging with vendors, internal teams, and senior leadership effectively, fostering strong relationships, and facilitating collaborative efforts.

  • Commitment to continuous improvement, streamlining processes, and automating services using the latest technologies.
