Patent Attorney

Full-Time
Parallel Wireless has an open position for a Patent Attorney or Patent Agent – Boston Area or Remote. The selected Patent Attorney or Patent Agent will be part of a small in-house legal department and will be responsible for interviewing engineers; preparing patent applications; responding to office actions; managing a patent docket; and develop and implement long-term US and international patent strategy.

What you'll do:

  • Work closely with product development teams to understand the product and identify IP needs.
  • Ensure that patent filings are of high quality and focused on commercially significant inventions by working with R&D and product management teams.
  • Prepare high-quality patent applications, perform prosecution of pending patent applications, and manage the global patent portfolio to ensure that meaningful protection is obtained.
  • Conduct and review patentability studies for disclosed inventions and technologies.
  • Support Legal Team in the management of Open Source Compliance Policy

What you should have:

  • Experience in the networking or telecommunications infrastructure field- (between 3-5 years is an advantage).
  • Good standing to practice law in at least one U.S. state (applies to Attorneys only).
  • Understanding and command of U.S. patent laws and regulations, U.S. Patents and Trademark.
  • Office practices and procedures, Paris Convention rules, and Patent Cooperation Treaty rules and practices are preferred.

Education:

  • Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree in electrical engineering, physics or computer science
  • Must be qualified to take the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) registration examination; registered USPTO practitioners preferred.
