[Part time] Senior Communications Specialist, London

London, United Kingdom
Part-Time

Who We Are

Isomorphic Labs is an Alphabet company that is reimagining drug discovery through a computational- and AI-first approach.

We are on a mission to accelerate the speed, increase the efficacy and lower the cost of drug discovery. You'll be working at the cutting edge of the new era of 'digital biology' to deliver a transformative social impact for the benefit of millions of people.

Come and be part of a multi-disciplinary team driving groundbreaking innovation and play a meaningful role in contributing towards us achieving our ambitious goals, while being a part of an inspiring, collaborative and entrepreneurial culture.

Your Impact

Isomorphic Labs is seeking a collaborative (senior) communications specialist to join our team. This is an opportunity to deliver a broad range of briefs including external, internal and digital communications that help to build our employer brand in the market, amplify our brand positioning and bring our brand to life within the company. This role is currently designed for a hands-on individual contributor who will work closely with the Brand and Communications Director and partner with other colleagues within Isomorphic Labs and colleagues at Google DeepMind to activate various communications efforts.

You will have proven experience in planning and delivering communications plans that successfully fulfill the business objectives, taking into account the messaging and target audience. This role requires a clear communicator who can conceptualise and deliver solutions, and equally enjoys hands-on execution of the work and can land complex messaging. You bring pragmatic and innovative thinking about trends and tools to advance communications and are organised and a self-starter, agile to support evolving priorities, and able to work independently. You are a curious learner, detail-oriented, resourceful and a team player.

Please note that this is a part time position. We need you to be available to work 3 days a week, with 2 of these in our office in Kings Cross.

What you will do

  • Conceptualise and deliver communications strategies that support consistent messaging and storytelling internally and externally. Ensure upkeep and use of guidelines and reference materials.
  • Write and collaborate on materials such as news releases, blog posts, briefing documents, fact sheets, Q&As, biographies, and social posts and own them through the approval process.
  • Support messaging and prepare executives and the wider team for external event participation.
  • Create content for our social media channels, currently LinkedIn and X, and make recommendations to optimise engagement and grow our presence on other channels over time.
  • Support executives with their social media presence.
  • Steer media initiatives when Isomorphic Labs has news; help production and preparation required for media interviews.
  • Manage press inquiries and media relationships for company benefit.
  • Provide support for internal initiatives and communications channels, advancing our multidisciplinary approach and ‘in this together’ value as we grow.
  • Contribute to measurement and metrics to demonstrate impact for the company.

Skills and qualifications

Essential:

  • Demonstrable senior experience in an innovative, quick moving field, preferably with a blend of in-house and agency.
  • Strong copywriter with the ability to translate complex information into a concise narrative for a variety of audiences.
  • Experience in managing inbound press enquiries and proactive opportunities, knowledge of publications and audience profile.
  • An ability to prepare and draft Internal Communications strategies that are informative and engaging.
  • Social media expertise, with proven ability to develop editorial calendars and manage channels, knowledge of best practice and analytics.
  • Ability to partner across teams and collaborate with key stakeholders across the organisation.
  • A champion for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, ensuring this shows up in all of our communications, culture and language at Isomorphic Labs.

Nice to have:

  • Experience in a life sciences or health care industry is a huge plus.

Culture and values

What does it take to be successful at IsoLabs? It's not about finding people who think and act in the same way, but we do have some shared values:

Thoughtful
Thoughtful at Iso is about curiosity, creativity and care. It is about good people doing good, rigorous and future-making science every single day.

Brave
Brave at Iso is about fearlessness, but it’s also about initiative and integrity. The scale of the challenge demands nothing less.

Determined
Determined at Iso is the way we pursue our goal. It’s a confidence in our hypothesis, as well as the urgency and agility needed to deliver on it. Because disease won’t wait, so neither should we.

In this together
Together at Iso is about connection, collaboration across fields and catalytic relationships. It’s knowing that transformation is a group project, and remembering that what we’re doing will have a real impact on real people everywhere.

Creating an inclusive company

We realise that to be successful we need our teams to reflect and represent the populations we are striving to serve. We’re working to build a supportive and inclusive environment where collaboration is encouraged and learning is shared. We value diversity of experience, knowledge, backgrounds and perspectives and harness these qualities to create extraordinary impact.

We are committed to equal employment opportunities regardless of sex, race, religion or belief, ethnic or national origin, disability, age, citizenship, marital, domestic or civil partnership status, sexual orientation, gender identity, pregnancy or related condition (including breastfeeding) or any other basis protected by applicable law. If you have a disability or additional need that requires accommodation, please do not hesitate to let us know.

Hybrid working

It’s hugely important for us to be able to share knowledge and establish relationships with each other, and we find it easier to do this if we spend time together in person. This is why we’ve decided to follow a hybrid model, and for full time positions we would require you to be able to come into the office 3 days a week (currently Tue, Wed, and one other day depending on which team you’re in). For part time positions this may vary.  As an equal opportunities employer we are committed to building an equal and inclusive team. If you have additional needs that would prevent you from following this hybrid approach, we’d be happy to talk through these if you’re selected for an initial screening call.

Please note that when you submit an application, your data will be processed in line with our privacy policy.
