Our vision is to bring the functional properties of human proteins to food. Helaina will be the first company to put human milk proteins into food, defining a new category of consumer nutrition products focused on supporting immunity. We will initially launch a first-of-its-kind infant formula – the only infant formula with immune-nourishing proteins found in human milk. We also see a range of opportunities to use our breast milk proteins to enhance other types of functional foods for all segments of the population.

About the Job:

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to oversee general accounting operations by controlling and verifying our financial transactions.  The Senior Accountant will reconcile account balances and bank statements, maintain general ledger and prepare month-end close procedures.  A successful Senior Accountant combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts. 

What You’ll Do:

  • Ownership of all accounting processes and controls
  • Handle all aspects of the month end close process
  • Assist in establishing and documenting internal controls
  • Research, resolve and respond to internal and external inquiries in a timely manner
  • Handle all aspects of accounts payable 
  • End to end process creation and implementation for invoicing clients
  • Help build and implement a process for accounting policies for our inventory
  • Maintain and update 13-Week Cashflow weekly
  • Support in updating the budget and monthly review of budgets to actuals
  • Regularly financial reporting to stakeholders
  • Provide support and documentation for external audits, responding to auditor inquiries and addressing any identified issues

About You:

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and 2+ years of prior administrative experience at a high-growth startup or company with similar pace and structure.  Bonus points if you have your CPA.
  • You have a thorough knowledge of GAAP.
  • You have extensive experience with cost accounting.
  • You have proven experience building processes, not just following established processes.
  • You are proficient using Quickbooks, Corporate Gmail, Google Suite and Microsoft Office. Bonus points for familiarity with monday.com.  Bonus points if you have experience with Netsuite or other ERP systems.
  • You have strong interpersonal skills & the ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations with demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy.
  • You have the proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate the ability to juggle multiple competing tasks, deadlines, personalities, long and short-term projects, etc.
  • You have experience interacting and communicating with individuals at all levels of the organization including senior executives, board members, etc.
  • You are detail-oriented, with excellent written and oral communication skills, composing, typing, and proofing materials, establishing priorities, and meeting deadlines.
  • You are forward-thinking and constantly one step ahead.

Compensation is market-competitive with a hourly rate of $40-$55 per hour.

We use a disciplined approach to compensation.  We believe this is the only way to create a consistent, strategic, and equitable compensation structure that in turn unlocks healthy growth for our organization.  We build our range with benchmarking data for the particular role from Pave.com.  Because Pave hooks into HRIS, they have the most accurate data for early-stage companies.  We decide any given hire's offer based on three factors:

  1. expected performance in the role (based on performance in the interview process and proximity of experience);
  2. seniority (amount of relevant experience);
  3. location (different cost of living).
