Description

Addison Lee is seeking to appoint a Paralegal to assist our Senior Legal Counsel, predominantly in relation to drafting and negotiating commercial contracts. The successful candidate will also manage the department contract register as well as have responsibility for company secretarial tasks for Addison Lee and its Group Companies.

Our legal team supports all areas of the business and the successful candidate will work with all departments, including our executive team. We provide advice on a wide range of queries which will involve researching questions and explaining legal terms in simple language. We are also expected to be proactive in identifying possible legal challenges and changes that may be required as a result of commercial developments and ideas.

Salary

£30,000 – 40,000 DOE

Location

The job is located at our head office in Paddington, London with hybrid working.

 

Expected start date: 1st July 2024

This role reports to the Senior Legal Counsel.

Requirements

Main Accountabilities

  • Draft, negotiate and re-negotiate commercial sales contracts, participate in client meetings and calls in relation to these, draft terms and conditions of business and related documentation.
  • Research and advise on regulatory, compliance and data protection matters.
  • Advise the marketing team on competitions and promotions including drafting terms and conditions.
  • Manage the company books and ensure that filings are made in good time.
  • Assist in researching and responding to ad hoc queries including from the customer services team.
  • Working with external lawyers in relation to patents and trademarks.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage time and expectations effectively.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the law in areas of special interest to the company.
  • The role is client-facing (both internal and external) requiring diplomacy and good communication.
  • Candidates must have a demonstrable ability to explain complex areas of law in simple terms without using legal jargon


    Requirements
  • A positive attitude and strong work ethic with a genuine desire to learn and develop legal understanding.
  • Previous law firm or in-house experience in drafting and negotiating standard contracts and able to be self-sufficient, asking questions when needed.
  • Sound academic background (Law degree or equivalent degree/ law school studies at respected University preferred)
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills; ability to collaborate and communicate well with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Works well under pressure, able to hit the ground running and handle numerous projects at once to meet deadlines.
