Overview    

This position takes direction from the Director of Building Services related to the upkeep of all properties where painting and related surface preparations are required. Most work is completed indoor with occasional projects involving exterior painting.

Shift: Full-Time 7:30 am-4:00 pm every 3rd weekend

Responsibilities:

  • Assess condition of surfaces to be painted and recommend what preparations are necessary to produce a quality result.  
  • Apply paint, varnish, stain or other materials as necessary in order to decorate and protect interior and exterior surfaces, trimmings and fixtures on the community properties.
  • Use carpentry skills to make minor repairs to wooden structures, fixtures, and doors.
  • Maintain current inventory of painting supplies. Recommend quality and quantity of paint to stock. Maintain paint storage locker and other associated storage areas in an efficient manner.
  • Work space includes all areas within a multi-floored Continuing Care Retirement Community that operates 24 hours/day.  Must be able to walk throughout the facility as frequently as necessary to perform these duties.
  • Operate community vehicles to carry out some tasks and occasionally leave the campus to obtain supplies or perform related duties.

Qualifications: 

Education:  High School diploma or general education degree (GED). Valid Ohio driver’s license is required in order to operate vehicles.

Experience: Prefer related experience in a commercial painting context. Should have skills in mixing, preparing and completing painting projects in a professional manner with a commitment to quality. Ability to do basic carpentry work is essential.
