Packaging Specialist with Marketing Focus
Purpose and Scope/General Summary: As a Packaging Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our products are packaged efficiently, attractively, and in compliance with industry standards. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement packaging solutions that protect our products, enhance our brand image, and optimize costs. Additionally, you will leverage your marketing expertise to create packaging that effectively communicates our brand message and drives consumer engagement.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Marketing team with new packaging concept development.
- Develop packaging that effectively communicates our brand message and appeals to our target audience.
- Design and develop innovative packaging solutions that meet product requirements, brand standards, and regulatory guidelines.
- Manage the timelines and processes involved in the development of corrugated boxes, pre-printed film, and pressure sensitive labels for fresh beef products.
- Learn USDA-FSIS food standards and guidelines for label approval, including graphic design principles for principal display panels and information panels.
- Consult with key customer Own Brand teams to create new products, ensuring they align with market trends and consumer demands.
- Prepare final, press-ready files based on supplied specifications for several methods of printing (digital, flexography, etc.).
- Troubleshoot any artwork or packaging that arises during production.
- Maintain production files, including artwork, printer proofs, fonts, images, and logos.
- Collaborate with product development, marketing, and logistics teams to ensure packaging aligns with product specifications, branding, and distribution needs.
- Lead 3-4 photoshoots a year to capture product packaging.
- Collaborate with marketing team to provide packaging data and optimized content to Content Service Providers (CSPs).
- Provide simple image retouching, clipping paths, and renderings of packaging.
- Conduct market research to identify packaging trends and consumer preferences.
- Conduct packaging feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses.
- Evaluate and optimize existing packaging designs for performance, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability.
- Stay updated on packaging trends, technologies, and industry regulations.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of packaging quality control procedures.
- Ensure timely completion of projects by effectively managing deadlines and communicating with all stakeholders.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with sales, regulatory, quality assurance, marketing, operations and procurement teams.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 – 3 years of experience in packaging development or related field.
- Familiarity with printing production processes (digital, flexography, lithography, etc.)
- Strong understanding of packaging materials, processes, and testing methods.
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Proficiency in packaging design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite)
- Experience using label and artwork management software, such as Opal, Artwork Flow, Managed Artworks and other systems, preferred
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

- As a salaried position with the company, you may be required to travel at some point to other facilities, to attend Company events, or as a representative of the Company in other situations. The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:
- Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;
- Paid Time Off: sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;
- 401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule;
- Base salary range of $60,000 - $70,000; and
- Incentive Pay: This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program;
