Position Summary:
To develop and introduce custom Packaging solutions, producing completed drawings and related documentation ensuring that they meet specifications in-line with Department Guidelines, Development Process and Quality Procedures.
Major Responsibilities:
- Produce high quality Packaging Designs to given standards ensuring Department/Project timescales are met, in collaboration with Mechanical, Industrial and Hardware teams.
- Work with packaging suppliers to deliver quality material based upon the design work as well as optimize for cost and Sustainability.
- Ensure the packaging components fulfil required technical specifications. This will require good communication with mechanical engineering, operations, and sourcing.
- Ensure any reported problems/queries from sources, both internal and external of the company, relating to packaging solutions are addressed to ensure appropriate corrective action is taken.
- Participate in and contribute to formal Design Reviews.
- Assist in the definition, improvement and promotion of Vantiva quality standards & design guidelines
- Provide technical expertise on Packaging Solutions to all parts of the business.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Packaging Science or equivalent degree
- 3-10 years relevant experience in Packaging Design and palletization of products
- Good knowledge of Packaging design using RSC, D/C and other FEFCO styles for single, multiple and unitized loads
- Good knowledge of Packaging materials, specifically corrugated papers and print-suitable liners
- Good knowledge of Packaging manufacturing techniques
- Experience of employing Eco-Design principles, including but not limited to: SUP-free design, FSC materials, mineral-free inks and reduced paper solutions.
- Experience of Palletisation solutions with maximum density, minimum cost, and efficient transit
- Appreciation of warehousing, logistics, racking and barcode scanning
- Understanding and/or experience of Packaging Testing in accordance with ISO / ASTM / ISTA (or equivalent) requirements
- Good working knowledge of standard office computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat.
- Some travel of short duration, both domestic and international, may be required.
- Fluent in Mandarin and English (oral + written).
