SEWS—El Paso Customer Service Center (Eastside). Although located at SEWS – El Paso Office, this is a Hybrid position, which combines both in office and off-site work. Associates are required to work at least two days in the office each week, but also have the flexibility to work off-site.
Job Title Packaging Engineer II
Design and develop packaging for all NABU programs that meets/exceed both internal customer and external customer requirements. Support ongoing production packaging changes/improvements to ensure that yearly profitability targets are met.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Attend new program launch meetings and ensure that packaging responsibilities within APQP/MPP are completed correctly and within the correct timeframe of the program.
- Update customer packaging websites with correct data so that form submissions are completed as required.
- Travel to Mfg sites, customers, and suppliers, when required, to finalize packaging designs and standard packs
- Investigate and finalize customer packaging for Production and Service parts
- Assist Packaging Engineering Manager with quoting, process improvements, and cost savings activities.
- Provide updates on monthly KPI reporting to the Packaging Engineering Manager.
- Achieve on-time customer signoff's on all packaging forms/submissions for program launches and current program packaging changes/modifications
- Achieve monthly cost savings goals through packaging material optimization or standard pack improvements.
- Cross-Train with other Sumitomo packaging engineers to be able to cover each other’s program
- Initiate and direct monthly packaging cost savings meetings.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required. 3 - 5 years of progressive experience with automotive wire harness/logistics/warehousing/material control.
- Travel: 5-10% travel (to Manufacturing facilities or customer locations).
- Strong standard math skills.
- English fluency required. Spanish language skills preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Applications (Excel, Power Point, Word)
