Overhead Crane Operator

Brannon Steel is looking for an experienced overhead Crane Operator to join the team at its Brampton manufacturing location. Day, afternoon, and night shift available. Starting from $24.14 to $35.84 per hour depending on experience PLUS up to $2 per hour in afternoon shift premiums OR up to $4 per hour in night shift premiums.

Duties

  • Above all else, work safely!
  • Move large steel parts and plate using 5-10 ton overhead cranes with RF remote.
  • Use clamps, magnets, pallet lifters, vacuums, and other below-the-hook attachments.
  • Load / unload trucks and trailers.
  • Perform material inspections and apply ID tags.
  • Locate materials by customer, thickness, size, grade, and other characteristics.
  • Support one or more work centers such as plasma and laser cutting machines.
  • Organize equipment, materials, time, and work area for maximum efficiency.
  • Plan and carry out material movement based on schedules and instructions.
  • Maintain communication with management and co-workers regarding material movement requirements.
  • Contribute to the accuracy and maintenance of inventory and material location databases.

Requirements

  • Strong overhead crane operator experience. A valid record of training is preferred.
  • Dedication to safe material handling practices.
  • A good communicator who enjoys working with others.
  • Strong attention to detail and a good organizer.
  • Computer literate.
  • Able to count large quantities and perform basic math.
  • Speak, read, write, and understand English at a conversational level.
