The Outreach Coordinator supports the operational and administrative functions of a multi-year program designed to shrink health disparities in the San Gabriel Valley. In addition to developing and managing community partnerships, this role supports the management and growth of an AmeriCorps cadre working with the organization.
This is a grant funded position through 07/1/2025 with the possibility of renewal through 11/30/2025
Responsibilities:
- Support planning and coordination of the program activities and operations
- Organize and coordinate the development of all featured events, outreach activities, meetings, and materials
- Coordinate and maintain applicable program schedules and agendas, which may include tracking deadlines, deliverables, communication with management and/or stakeholders
- Lead outreach activities in the assigned underserved and marginalized communities
- Provide direction to 5-8 AmeriCorps personnel
- Serve as a Team Lead to a team of Program Coordinators
- Serve as a Liaison to the program’s community partners and stakeholders
- Use software apps and tools to collect and report relevant data tracking community health metrics
- Other duties as assigned by the Program and Area Managers
Scope and Travel:
- Extensive travel by foot and by car within specified neighborhoods of the San Gabriel Valleyas well as travel to and from CORE’s Los Angeles Headquarters (Chinatown)
Qualifications:
- Preference for candidate with bachelor’s degree in public health or health sciences, or at least two year’s equivalent experience in relevant field
Experience:
- Minimum 1 year experience in public health, healthcare settings, community outreach or related field
- Experience in community outreach, conducting surveys, and collecting data
- Experience working with community-based organizations, local government agencies, volunteer groups in LA County (preferred)
Skills and Competencies:
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in MS Office applications
- Knowledgeable of HIPAA
- Flexible and adaptive to a frequently changing environment
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
- Close attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Bilingual in English and one of the 4 languages of program emphasis (Cantonese, Mandarin, Spanish & Vietnamese; reading/writing capabilities in the aforementioned languagesrequired)
- Ability to walk 4-5 miles/day
- Ability to walk in areas of urban terrain, which may include hills and stairs
- Ability to walk in hot and cold weather conditions
- Reliable transportation is required
