The Role

The Organizational Controls Officer will ultimately report to the Group COO and oversee the operational controls of the Group - namely Business Process Management, Business Continuity Planning, Controls Registry Custodianship & Testing – aiming to minimize risks, ensure accuracy of records, promote operational efficiency, and encourage adherence to policies, rules, regulations, and laws. In addition, you will manage Group-wide, cross-functional and multi-national projects of operational and regulatory nature. You will have a broad remit covering business process management, internal efficiency & controls management & testing, business continuity planning and outsourcing management among others.  You will have a hands-on attitude as much as an operational strategy acumen, and ultimately innovate to make the company more efficient, resilient and cost effective.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a robust internal controls framework, with regulatory documentation (e.g., Policies, Procedures, etc.) taxonomy, custodianship, updates, inter-dependencies with technological platforms and links with regulatory obligations and risks;
  • Develop and maintain a compliance-first approach to the operations, ensuring procedures and solutions are aligned with relevant regulations, and monitor and report on compliance performance;
  • Ensure processes and controls are understood, monitored, and adhered to.
  • Oversee, record, assess and maintain the Group outsourcing agreements as per the EBA mandates;
  • Provide accurate and clear reporting/monitoring across all operational teams to demonstrate operational productivity;
  • Provide leadership on operational, multi-disciplinary projects, ensuring deadlines are met and regular updates are provided;
  • Monitor and contain operational cost;
  • Maintain a current, efficient, and robust Business Continuity Plan for people, premises, systems and service providers, aligned with the relevant Group Policies;
  • Translate the Group’s Business Plan goals into functional targets and propagate those into everyday KPI’s that will be easy to follow and monitor.

Requirements

To be considered you should have:

  • Experienced in running a regulated financial operations function or strong management background and program management, with understanding of fintech-payments markets;
  • Experience in operational efficiency, process leaning/optimization/automation roles;
  • Confident in coordinating large multi-disciplinary teams;
  • Have a strong business acumen with an ability to bridge the business and operational strategy;
  • Wide scope of exposure and interaction with all functions of a Financial Institution;
  • Experienced in analyzing operational demand, supply, risks and innovation opportunities;
  • Have a strong track record in building and managing third party partnerships;
  • Data-driven credibility when influencing your internal and external stakeholders;
  • Be experienced in working across business teams to understand their needs and drive appropriate operational solutions and effective communication to your stakeholders;
  • Experience of working with international clients/investors;
  • Ability to work on high-exposure initiatives, to tight deadlines, and with a focus on accuracy;
  • Flexibility, resilience, and ability to pivot;
  • Definitely a grab-and-go, hands-on approach to problems.
