As a Programme Manager, you will operate in an environment where change is a constant. Our customers are demanding more agility from their Finance and HR systems to meet the evolving demands of their staff and customers alike and many of these are choosing to transform Finance and HR functions using Oracle Fusion Cloud.
For many, their Finance and HR systems are at the heart of their ability to run their business and make decisions about the future. Changing those systems and associated processes is usually complex, disruptive, critical, and necessary.
When we partner with our customers to deliver these programmes, you will be critical to the success of the projects and programmes from both the customer and Version 1 point of view, ensuring that the transformation journey is positive experience for everyone.
Oracle experience is NOT mandatory for this role. The role will suit you, if you have worked in Finance and\or HR transformation projects, with Oracle or other technologies such as SAP, Workday, Sage, etc.

There are three major facets to strong Programme Management at Version 1 – you’re not expected to have all these criteria as there will be ample opportunity for career development in the role:

Communication
You will:
- Set a clear vision and communicate this to your project/programme team(s), including customer project team members, motivating them to deliver on the vision and, ensuring that the teams understand the big picture and the part they play in it.
- Be known as a highly to effective communicator, regularly chairing, presenting, and participating in board level steering groups involving customer C-suite level executives.
- Be a leader - managing your Version 1 team, ensuring that the teams are delivering the outcomes. You’ll participate at Practice-level to ensure strong alignment across the different project teams e.g., for sharing resources and specialist skills.
- Control and report progress to the Steering Group/Sponsor, and internally within Version 1 senior stakeholders, ensuring that risks and issues are escalated appropriately.
- Be able motivate both Version 1 and customer teams to work together at pace, overcome obstacles and meet challenging deadlines.
- Build relationships with key stakeholders ensuring they are regularly briefed and have clarity on key timelines, events and resource asks.
Planning and Organisation
You will:
- Work with the customer to identify and agree the project scope, goals, milestones, dependencies, etc and secure the required resources (people and budget).
- Be proactive in identifying potential risks and issues and have a contingency plan in place to mitigate these and keep the project on track.
- Work with a globally dispersed team, in an onshore-offshore environment, ensuring alignment across everyone involved on your programme.
- Closely monitor and report on project budget, taking ownership for the P&L targets for your programme, and ensuring clear financial arrangements are in place for the programme.
- Develop well thought-out, achievable project plans underpinned by Version 1’s MAXIMISE project methodology. You must be able to demonstrate you have worked to a methodology.
- Clearly understand the dependencies on, and responsibilities of, external parties such as customers or 3rd party software providers, developing a plan to manage and report on them.
- Clearly articulate key project phases and stage gates, what will be required to achieve these and how this will be evidenced by the project team.
Change Management
You will:
- Be able to roll-out and land methodologies and approaches across large teams of consultants who will have taken disparate approaches in their past experiences.
- Be able to continuously manage a large team through complex, global change.
- Be a great listener and in-tune with what is going on day to day in your programmes and get ahead of problems, resolving them before they escalate.
- Be the key interface to our customers, helping them navigate the challenges and risks that are part of all transformative programmes – often it is the first time they have done such a transformation and you need to be their guide.
- Be willing to challenge the status quo in pursuit of a better outcome for both the customer and Version 1.
- Support pre-sales and business development opportunities.
You will have experience of:
- Leading projects and programmes within an ERP/HCM/EPM landscape
- Managing and motivating team of 25+ consultants
- Leading programmes and teams that may have resources in multiple countries.
- C-Suite level stakeholder management, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Ownership for financial outcomes on Fixed Price or T&M projects with budgets up to £/€5m
- Implementing strong governance and compliance frameworks (Gate Control, Status Reporting, Steering Forums, Design Authorities).
- Leading scope management with stakeholders and customers to align with business outcomes.
- Working to Project management methodology standards e.g., MSP or PRINCE2.
