The OR Service Line Lead RN is responsible for assisting with clinical management and assisting with the administrative coordination of the daily clinical operations of the OR, according to the established policies and procedures.   The position is a combination of clinical (direct care) and assisting with administrative unit responsibilities to ensure effective delivery of evidenced based clinical patient care.  Assures that nursing practices are standardized and are consistent with overall nursing best practices and standards of care.  Performs as a role model for patient experience to ensure that the staff provides courteous, respectful, and personalized customer service.  Supports the goal of the organization and optimizes the clinical, financial, and human resources of the OR. The OR Service Line Lead RN is also responsible for daily communication, feedback, coaching, and problem-solving unit issues.  The OR Service Line Lead RN is responsible for continuous personal growth and development as well as encouraging and/or providing opportunities for staff to gain skills.  

The key components of the Quality-Caring Model (QCM) are interwoven throughout the delivery of care within nursing and nurses are expected to utilize the QCM and a framework for providing excellent nursing care to their patients, developing collegial relationships with the healthcare team, and implementing self-care and self-reflective behaviors to restore balance to ones' self.

  • Assists with ensuring clinical qualify of care and the integration of the quality caring model in clinical services on the unit as evidenced by meeting targeted quality indicator outcomes, targeted patient satisfaction scores and targeted benchmarks for unit dashboard..

  • Supports the annual budget for the individual unit by meeting established productivity standards through appropriate flexing when needed, maintaining staffing matrix guidelines and unit specific ratios.

  • Assists in the promotion of professional growth and development by attending all mandatory courses classes, in-services, functions as a clinical expert and resource while on the unit.

  • Works effectively with other units, departments and physicians to support the organizational goals as evidenced by State and Federal regulatory surveys, accreditation and certification findings related to specific area of responsibility..

  • Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization.

  • Act as a clinical resource for perioperative services personnel within the specialty using professional guidelines and evidence-based standards..

  • Coordinate perioperative patient care with other members of the surgical team.

  • Act as a consultant to advise the perioperative team in areas of specialty using professional guidelines and evidence-based standards.

  • Assist perioperative personnel in evaluating practice and in creating strategies for further improvement within the specialty.

  • Communicate and collaborate effectively practice and in creating strategies for further improvement within the specialty.

  • Provide educational resources/in-services and coordinate with the perioperative team and other stakeholders.

  • Provide educational resources/in-services and coordinate with the perioperative educator regarding Perioperative team education specific to the specialty.

  • Organize quality of performance improvement activities within the specialty.

  • Coordinate, facilitate, and manage change within the specialty area
  • Facilitate or serve as a member of a multidisciplinary team in planning perioperative patient care related to the specialty area.
  • Collect and analyze data that applies to the specialty to facilitate collaboration and negotiation with stakeholders.
  • Evaluate specialty team personnel performance as required
  • Pursue professional growth and participate in a professional organization
  • Performs staff responsibilities including the Circulator and Scrub Role as needed to fulfill required service levels.
