Position overview:

As a Principal Operations Research (OR) Scientist you will leverage your deep understanding of OR scientific methodologies and problem solving to innovate scalable, robust models aimed at tackling some of our clients' novel challenges. You’ll spearhead the entire model development process, working with our econometricians and engineers to scope solutions, build and train models, and partner with engineering teams to deploy into production environments. We are a consultancy where traditional reporting lines are not clearly demarcated. Because we operate like a startup the most successful candidates will have a broad range of production science model development skills, flexibility to wear many hats, and an enthusiasm to learn and teach along the way.

Role and Responsibilities:

In your role as a Principal OR Scientist, you will be instrumental in developing and deploying cutting-edge OR models. You will initiate and lead studies that will drive decision making on an extreme scale for our customers. 

Basic Qualifications:  

  • PhD in operations research or similar machine learning or quantitative field
  • In-depth familiarity with optimization, stochastic modeling, and algorithm design
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Java, and experience with machine learning libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn)

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Knowledge of inventory management and transportation network optimization.
  • Experience communicating qualitative research methods and findings to non-qualitative researchers
  • Familiarity with the implementation of econometrics methods including double machine learning, time series analysis, and optimization techniques
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment
  • A strong academic background ideally with related publications

US Salary Range: $175,000 - $265,000, plus an annual discretionary bonus, 401k contribution, and competitive benefits package. Actual compensation within the range will depend upon the level the individual is hired at based on their skills, experience, qualifications.
