Responsible for planning, developing, and directing a safe, efficient, and high-morale distribution operation to achieve results desired by the company. This role requires operational expertise, along with an understanding of the broader business, including sales and customer satisfaction. The Operations Manager will report directly to the Regional Operations Manager and will actively participate in developing, analyzing, and evaluating the strategic direction of the branch to increase profitability, sales, and operational efficiency. They will oversee the Inside Sales efforts through the Inside Sales Manager, ensuring that the operations and sales teams are aligned in achieving customer satisfaction and financial goals. Additionally, the Operations Manager will oversee all warehousing and fabrication activities, ensuring these functions operate smoothly and efficiently to support the overall business objectives.
Role and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Regional Manager in providing guidance with daily operations and development of annual business plan, with a focus on integrating operational excellence with sales strategies and customer satisfaction.
- Oversee the Inside Sales effort through the Inside Sales Manager, ensuring that customer needs are met efficiently and contributing to the customer pricing matrix to maximize Gross Margin and/or increase sales. The Operations Manager must stay attuned to customer feedback and adjust operations accordingly to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Responsible for working with management and operations team to ensure accurate, timely, and efficient shipping, receiving and processing of material.
- Responsible for working with management team to maintain an accurate and well-organized inventory and planning and implementing storage layout of inventory.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives for lean, quality, and safety, while ensuring that these initiatives support the overall business goals, particularly those related to customer satisfaction and sales growth.
- Ensure that all safety programs, company policies, procedures and guidelines are maintained and properly documented.
- Responsible for developing a comprehensive succession plan for operations personnel.
- Ensure 24/7 facility coverage by coordinating staff schedules and resources to provide continuous operational support. While not personally on call, the Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring the facility has adequate coverage at all times, including nights and weekends.
- Actively participate in customer-related discussions and decisions, ensuring that the voice of the customer is considered in operational planning and execution. This role requires a customer-first mindset, even in the operations arena.

Skills, Education & Experience
- Working knowledge of bottom-line business management with the proven ability to make sound business decisions, discuss and resolve problems.
- Working knowledge of computers and business related software, experience with P21 helpful.
- Strong verbal, written, mathematical and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read, write and speak English. Verbal Spanish skills are beneficial.
- Authorities and Accountabilities
- Minimum of three (3) years’ P&L experience
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience of managing and supervising in an industrial distribution environment.
- Minimum of three (3) years demonstrated experience leading and developing individuals and teams.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent/related industry experience
- 5+ years leadership in a distribution or manufacturing company
