About the Role
The Athletic is seeking an Operations Manager to support the Newsroom Operations Director oversee the numerous logistics involved in the smooth daily operation of The Athletic’s newsroom.
This position requires a range of logistical and operational responsibilities. The ideal candidate for this role will be an engaged and collegial team member with very strong organizational skills. Flexibility, curiosity and a desire to learn are critical to success in this role.
The role is remote for candidates located in the United States or Canada only.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the planning and logistics for all company summits.
- Research, plan and submit credentials requests for large scale sports events.
- Support oversight procedures on all budgets, including monthly closes, supplying additional financial reports as needed.
- Manage the internal security deployment system and paperwork.
- Daily upkeep of the archive system.
- Manage vendors and process payments, working closely with finance as needed.
- Work in Coupa for independent contractor onboarding, vendor onboarding, and purchasing.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in an operational or administrative role.
- Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Impeccable organizational and time management skills; ability to multitask, prioritize and work under deadline pressure.
- A self-starter with the ability to self-manage daily duties.
- Excellent interpersonal oral and written communications skills.
- Ability to work with all levels of management and staff in a highly professional manner.
- Ability to research resources, troubleshoot and solve problems.
- Advanced computer skills are a must, including experience with Google, MS Word, Excel, PeopleSoft, Workday, and Coupa.

The annual base salary range for this role is $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 USD. The total compensation offered for this position may vary based on factors such as education, experience, skills, and location. It may also include non-cash rewards and benefits. The base salary range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
