Two Six Technologies is currently looking for an experienced Operational Systems Engineer who will be responsible for designing and implementing complex networks to support cutting-edge cybersecurity research and development. As the Operational Systems Engineer, you will have the authority to fully manage custom systems, networks, and systems under test as an integral part of the cyber and electronic systems team. Your role will be to develop and implement innovative solutions across the national security community.

This technical position requires expertise in system administration and cybersecurity. It is not a typical corporate network administration or helpdesk ticketing role. The Operational Systems Engineer will play a crucial role in high-priority, high-growth projects. The ideal candidate should have a strong problem-solving mindset and be able to operate effectively in ambiguous situations in order to achieve project goals quickly and efficiently. They should also possess an "all hands on deck" mentality and a willingness to broaden their knowledge across hardware, software, reverse engineering, CNO, and system development.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Ensure that complex systems are prepared for use and respond quickly to requests as needed.
  • Support tight-looped development and integration production cycles
  • Contribute to process and testing automation efforts
  • Manage, reconfigure, and help automate components of a critical lab network 
  • Continual learning, especially in the field of cybersecurity principles
  • Collaboration and communication across teams and projects

Minimum Qualifications

  • Active US Security clearance of Top Secret level and ability to obtain SCI with Polygraph
  • Security+, CASP+, GICSP, or equivalent IAT Level II or higher certification
  • 5+ years of experience configuring, administering, and maintaining Linux and Windows servers or workstations
  • 3+ years of experience configuring, administering, and maintaining enterprise networking appliances (Cisco, Juniper, etc)
  • Intimate knowledge of the Linux command line
  • Command of scripting languages such as Python and Bash
  • Experience with containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with large-scale virtualization environments in VMware, Proxmox, or KVM
  • Ability to work daily onsite in Laurel, Maryland

Nice to Haves:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with ability and willingness to obtain Polygraph clearance
  • Experience with classified lab networks and requirements (SCIF or SAPF)
  • Expertise in mid-level network devices such as managed switches and routers
  • Experience with LDAP/Kerberos authentication protocols
  • Experience with vSphere, vMotion, vCenter, Content Libraries and VM Networking
  • Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet
  • Experience setting up and maintaining high-availability systems
  • Willingness to travel for up to 20% of time to support program objectives

Clearance Requirements

  • Active Top Secret Clearance willing to obtain and maintain a Polygraph clearance
