Video & Projections Technician - Resident Shows Division 
Lighting, Video Projections, and Special Effects
Permanent, On-Call Position
 

We are looking for a Projections/Video Technician to join our Projections team! The Projections/Video Technician’s roleis to work as part of the Projections team to run tracks as needed,install and maintainProjections equipment in a safe and consistent manner for the show. The ideal candidate will be a technically savvy individual with excellent interpersonal skills needed to maintain relationships with the team and other departments. 
 

The Projections/Video Technician will have the opportunity to:  

·       Run cue tracks, operate and troubleshoot department equipment, as directed for performances, Artist training and maintenance; 
·       Maintain all Projections documentation related to the maintenance, operation, etc. of equipment, systems and tracks; 
·       Set up and maintain interactive Projections / Video system consisting of several computers, projectors, cameras, networks and other stage related equipment; Set up, calibrate and maintain multi-stacked DLP video projectors; 
·       Administer and maintain Windows and Mac based PC’s connected to a wide variety of stage equipment; 
·       Assist with administrative tasks and inventory by identifying any additionalProjections equipment that may be required and communicate with leadership when necessary; 
·       Develop a thorough knowledge of Projections department equipment specific to the production, in order tooperate equipment safely; 
·       Participate in special projects, including the construction and installation of new show elements, and other projects that include Projections elements or other needs that may fall within the department’s specialty, as directed; Maintain flexible schedule for such projects; 
·       Assist in the development and implementation of preventative maintenance routines and inspections – particularly life safety and show critical – for all departmental equipment, as well as equipment that may not be directly owned by the company but has significance to the show and a relationship to the department’s function; ensure that these routines and inspections are appropriately documented; 
·       Adhere to and promote all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations as they pertain to the safe operation of all elements related to the show; participate in all required health and safety classes and emergency rescue procedure training;  
·       Contribute to a safe and positive working environment at all times by adhering to and following all Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group standards, values, policies and regulations pertaining to safety using equipment and established working methods; 
·       Assist other departments when necessary for cross-departmental support; 
·       Complete other job-related duties as assigned. 
 

What does it take for this role? The following hard skills are the basics of what’s needed to be successful in this position: 

·       At least one year of previousexperience with interactive visual technologies and stage performance; 
·       At least one year of previousexperience with video technologies and technical theatre, with specific training in electronics and theatrical lighting systems; 
·       Working knowledge of the following: 
o   Interactive visual technologies; 
o   MDI, DMX, Max / MSP; 
o   Ethernet and wireless technology (TCP/IP, UDP, Switches, Firewalls). 
·       Previous experience with the following:  
o   PC hardware setup, maintenance and administration; both PC & Mac operating platforms; 
o   Large format video projectors, video cameras, hardware and software video capture, editing and compression; 
o   Programming, operating and maintaining Media Server Playback systems and using their affiliated hardware and software; 
o   Technologies including DVI, HDMI, Fiber optics and RAID systems. 
·       Professional appearance and demeanor; 
·       Availability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays;  
·       High school diploma or GED completion;  
·       Fluent in English, both written and spoken; 
·       Ability to obtain OSHA 10 course completion card; 
·       Ability to perform the essential functions of the job including, but not limited to: climbing, crouching, kneeling, standing, lifting, sometimes for extended amounts of time; lifting at least 50lbs, working with limited to no visibility; Full list of essential functions will be sent in the offer.
