We are seeking an experienced Director of NPI to lead the introduction of new hardware products and oversee ongoing product lifecycle management in Operations. The Director will be responsible for managing a team of NPI & Sustaining Managers, working with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful launch of new products while maintaining competitive pricing, quality, and alignment with business objectives. In this role, you will also oversee the sustaining function, driving continuous product improvements, resolving field issues, and optimizing manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the NPI & Sustaining Engineering team in the successful introduction of new hardware products, ensuring on-time delivery, quality, and cost-efficiency.
• Oversee product lifecycle management, including sustaining engineering efforts to improve existing products and address field issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, operations, supply chain, and quality) to ensure product launches meet business goals.
• Ensure competitive pricing through effective project and cost management.
• Drive continuous improvements in manufacturing processes to enhance product performance and customer satisfaction.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to NPI & Sustaining Managers, fostering a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
• Monitor and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) related to product development, quality, and field performance.
• Stay informed of industry trends, technologies, and best practices to enhance NPI and sustaining engineering processes.
Qualifications:
• 10+ years of experience in NPI and Sustaining Engineering roles, preferably in a technology-driven, fast-paced environment.
• Strong technical background in hardware product development and manufacturing.
• Proven leadership experience with a track record of managing teams and cross-functional projects.
• Expertise in project management, including budget, schedule, and risk management.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to address complex technical challenges.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal teams and external partners.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with global manufacturing operations and supply chain management.
• Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies, such as Lean or Six Sigma.
• Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements for hardware products.
