NOC Engineer II

The Engineer II - NOC is a technical position that requires an individual to work as part of a TEAM in the 24x7 Network Operations Center (NOC) where they will be expected to follow direction while performing most tasks on their own.  Daily tasks involve working with and supporting the NOC 24X7 team, supporting Verisign's production, QA and development environments, as well as coordinating smart hands support for hardware failures.  This role's primary responsibility will be to monitor alarms, open corresponding tickets, diagnose, resolve, document issues, and escalate as needed.  Engineers are also expected manage the change management queue which could involve complex planning and execution of network changes. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitors alarms, opens corresponding tickets, diagnoses, resolves, documents the issue, takes escalations from junior engineers and escalates as needed.Supports Verisign's production, QA and Development environments via work requests, complex change tickets or incidents. 
  • Systems engineer tasks include pulling logs, analysis of system level applications, starting and stopping jobs.  Configuration of  hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories,  or storage.  Configure systems to provide networking services, including HTTP/HTTPS, File Transfer Protocol (FTP), network file system (NFS), server message block (SMB), Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP), secure shell (SSH) and Network Time Protocol (NTP).  Administration of accounts, passwords and permissions.  Work with remote hands to repair failed hardware in both server and network gear.
  • Network engineer tasks include examining customer requests, tracing the packets, planning the routing and security changes needed and then implementing the approved changes.  Troubleshooting static, aggregate, and generated routes, BGP and OSPF sessions, GRE and IPSec tunnels, VPNs, load balancer VIPs, router access-lists and firewall rules.  Work with remote hands to repair failed hardware in both server and network gear.

Required Experience

  • 2 Year / Associate Degree or equivalent work experience on Information Technology/ related or similar technical certification
  • CCNA or RHCSA certification is required
