About the role:
- Auditioning how the team is currently working with databases, what best practices might be implemented (KISS principles),
- Proactively pursuing improvements,
- Flagging up and explaining databases issues understandable to leaders,
- Working out the coherent vision of the ecosystem for the Ops team,
- Working closely with the DevOps/Platform team,
Requirements
Requirements:
- strong PostgreSQL skills with proven record of operational experience on production environment:
- Proficient level SQL, PL/pgSQL, including stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views
- Proficient level Postgres troubleshooting skills including identifying & resolving blocking, long running queries and other events,
- knowledge of database design principles, query optimisation, index management, integrity checks, statistics and isolation levels,
- ability to efficiently write database code without compromising data quality, privacy or security,
- familiarity with AWS Cloud and Kubernetes,
- Nice to have: familiarity with ITIL processes e.g. incident, problem, change management.
