Responsibilities
Shamrock Trading Corporation is looking for a Network Engineer to join our Infrastructure team and support Shamrock’s fast growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong infrastructure networking background, a passion for automation, a pragmatic approach to engineering solutions, willingness to work across other areas as needed, have a high aptitude, and possess strong problem-solving skills.
- Serve as a network systems subject matter expert, recommending and implementing best-practice network architecture in a manner that ensures maximum uptime and security
- Deploy, document and proactively maintain network infrastructure and related technologies
- Troubleshoot and resolve critical or escalated technical issues of affected equipment
- Help deploy, test, and troubleshoot network hardware and software
- Troubleshoot issues on premises and cloud environments
- Participate in an on-call rotation and be onsite as needed
- Take part in the development of technical processes and documentation

Be open to learning new concepts and train with other Network Engineers
Qualifications
- BA/BS degree in a technical field or evidence of exceptional ability
- Must possess a passion for technology and take initiative to stay educated on the latest and most relevant technologies and methodologies
- Must possess initiative and analytical skills to resolve issues before they become critical
- 3-5 years' experience with next-generation Palo Alto firewalls, software-defined networking (SDN), and Cisco/Meraki network components in an enterprise datacenter environment
- Foundational network routing, topology and protocol knowledge
- Understanding of hardware architecture, maintenance, and repair
- Must possess initiative to resolve issues before they become critical
- Must possess strong people skills and the ability to work as a team member, collaborating and partnering with others to address issues
- Able to adapt to changes in a dynamic work environment
- Must have a propensity for knowledge gathering and sharing
- Must be self-motivated, able to respond quickly when on-call, willing to work outside core area
- Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing
- Minimal travel may be required
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS network design experience a plus
- Experience with BGP and VXLAN/EVPN
- Experience writing Infrastructure-as-Code using Ansible, Terraform or similar
- Experience with back-up/recovery and monitoring solutions
- Functional Jenkins and Git skills
