Role Summary
The network engineer contractor will help build a new lab environment used for performance testing Sophos hardware and software products. We have an existing lab with equipment that needs to be moved, installed, cabled and networked in a new lab that has been constructed in the Sophos Pittsburgh Data Center.
What You Will Do
- Provide inputs to a proposed new lab design.
- Install Datacenter Racks, PDUs, Patch Panels, Console Servers, and networking switches in the new lab
- Move Sophos Firewall appliances, data networking switches and associated test traffic generators from an existing lab, install them in the new racks, and cable them (as per Sophos Appliance Cabling specifications) in a manner consistent with Sophos Datacenter Cabling Specifications. Configure management networking on these appliances.
- Move Sophos Wifi and Cloud Switch appliances and associated test equipment from an existing lab to a new lab, install them in new racks, configure and network them as per Sophos Cabling and Network specifications.
- Move, install and configure Linux and windows desktop systems.
- Test and Verify network connectivity.
- Document the new setup and configuration
What You Will Bring
- Minimum 6-8 years’ experience in an IT or Engineering Datacenter environment.
- CCNA Certified Highly desired.
- Expert knowledge of Configuring Layer 2 switches, VLANs, and Firewalls.
- Experience with installing and configuring Dell and Cisco Switches.
- Working experience of Linux and Windows Operating systems
- Hands on experience with DNS, DHCP and Active directory servers
- Good communication skills, written and verbal.
- Good work organization and time management abilities.
- Onsite availability is a must.
- The job involves lifting and moving heavy objects up to 50Lbs.
The pay for this role is up to $50 per hour.
