The Recruitment process

We will aim to shortlist within 2 weeks of application and are anticipating interviews will commence with teams interview followed by a face to face interview at our site in Ashton.

The role

This position presents an incredible chance for an Electrically-Grounded Multiskilled Shift Engineer to become part of our team at our Ryecroft site in Ashton under Lyne. As a Multiskilled Engineer, your main focus will be on proactive maintenance activities aimed at both maintaining and improving equipment assets across the site and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Successful applicants will:

  • Provide responsive engineering assistance to production, promptly resolving breakdowns and assisting in resolving critical engineering issues
  • Support and execute planned maintenance activities to ensure the reliability and availability of our assets.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, making swift and effective judgments to address problems and skilfully prioritise support requirements.
  • Apply mechanical, electrical, and PLC control engineering expertise to effectively troubleshoot issues encountered during the shift.
  • Supervise external contractors who offer additional support for troubleshooting activities, guaranteeing their understanding and compliance with company practices, procedures, and regulations.
  • Be well-versed in a wide range of engineering assets and capable of working on them.
  • Report and escalate any equipment issues that cannot be effectively resolved during the shift to the appropriate departments.

Qualifications:

  • You will have demonstrable mechanical and electrical competence through training and experience, an Engineering Qualification or Apprenticeship (HNC or above preferred),

Must have:

  • Strong alignment to the Weetabix values
  • Always curious to find new and better ways of working
  • Prior experience in a food production or manufacturing setting
  • Good IT skills to include use of Computer Maintenance Management Systems
  • Impressive problem-solving abilities
  • Have the ability to bring your teamwork skills to the table and thrive in a collaborative environment.
