The Role: Moulds Manager

Availability: Full-time with an ability to work mornings, afternoons, holidays and occasional weekends and overtime.

The Moulds Manager plays an essential role in growing talent at Lush through the development of their people and by sharing best practices within their department. You lead a team of mould-makers and tool and die makers to produce all moulds required for North American production. You support Lush’s sustainability goals by reducing plastic waste, making moulds just-in-time to meet our fresh production needs, and supporting our growth towards a vision for closed-loop mould manufacturing. Reporting to the Toronto Production Manager, the Moulds Manager has the following RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage, coordinate and schedule a team of Moulds Production Assistants, Tool Makers and Supervisors to meet the internal demand for moulds production 
  • Develop processes for production and communicate with global counterparts, Manufacturing Room Managers, forecasting, planning, and scheduling support teams about production needs, materials, launches and plans
  • Oversee the planning, implementation, execution and tracking of all short and long term projects
    Manage the department’s capital expenditure through the sourcing of machinery and management of budgets
  • Oversee that best practices, quality standards and health & safety procedures are adhered to; collaborate with support teams to address any areas of concern
  • Ensure and promote safe working practices and oversee the management of Health & Safety initiatives, claims management, and the return to work process for the moulds team
  • Implement ethical and environmental best practices that minimize waste and promote sustainability
  • Provide direction, support, feedback, development and performance management to all department staff
  • Through delegation, training, and development, oversee a Moulds team who excels in the following:
    • Ensuring moulds consistently meet quality standards
    • Efficiently setting up materials, moulds, and equipment needed for production
    • Safely and effectively using all mould-making equipment
    • Meeting production targets as needed to support the production rooms
    • Proposing and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality
    • Maintaining and updating machine Standard Operating Procedures as necessary

You bring the following QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Proficiency as a manufacturing or supply chain operations Manager In Training (MIT) at Lush or equivalent external management experience
  • Minimum 4 years progressive leadership and people management experience
  • 1-2 years experience successfully managing CAPEX projects
  • 1-2 years experience managing automated manufacturing processes/machinery and managing Machine Operators
  • A passion for sustainability and for process improvement
  • Proven success achieving KPIs
  • Excellent at giving clear, specific, and impactful feedback to the team and receiving feedback well
  • A respected leader who inspires followership and acts in-line with Lush Leadership Practices: Be Real, Be Curious, Lead Fearlessly, Adapt and Evolve, Grow Talent, Live with Purpose
  • Demonstrated commitment to health and safety standards
  • Demonstrated commitment to good manufacturing practices
  • Excellent problem solving, communication and organizational skills
  • Able to plan, prioritize, and organize multiple tasks
  • Comfortable with reading, writing, and speaking English in order to communicate with peers and leadership on all platforms (i.e. in person, via email, via Google/Teams chat)

Preferred:

  • Experience with mould-making and/or 3D printing
  • Experience with recycling management and/or the implementation of closed-loop recycling systems
  • Understanding of all processes and legislation required to ensure safe working practices
  • Advanced level understanding of ERP, production planning processes, and software programs
