We are looking for an experienced professional to improve the Monitoring and Observability area of our IT services. As part of the Service Delivery team, you’ll collaborate with Platform Engineering and Development teams, ensuring that Service Delivery Managers’ and our clients’ monitoring and observability needs are met using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Mimir, Tempo and Alertmanager. Your contributions will be critical in maintaining and enhancing the operational health of our services. Additionally, you’ll have a say in architectural improvements of our monitoring stack to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
As a Monitoring and Observability Engineer at Breakwater you will:
- Develop, integrate and maintain observability of distributed systems using Grafana stack, Prometheus and Alertmanager.
- Create and manage dashboards and visualisations to provide actionable insights into system health, performance and operational efficiency.
- Assist in managing incident and problem related issues, making sure that we can preemptively act on events before they impact our customers.
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions using best practices and standards.
- Conduct performance analysis, proactively track and modify thresholds, diagnose issues and provide input to the Architecture, Platform Engineering and Development teams regarding observability requirements.
The profile we are looking for:
- Proven experience with Grafana observability stack (Grafana, Loki, Mimir, Tempo), Prometheus and alert management.
- Proficiency in creating monitoring scenarios, managing dashboards, and setting up alerts.
- Some background in scripting and automation.
- Strong communication skills to facilitate communications with stakeholders.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
You will stand out if:
- You have experience with other monitoring and observability tools.
- Strong understanding of cloud environments (AWS and GCP).
- You have experience with distributed systems and microservice architecture.
- You have no trouble in getting your needs across to developers to expose the metrics that you need in the way you need them.
- You know your way around ITIL and ITSM.
