We are looking for a PRN MOHS Tech to cover sick days, vacations, etc. This position is very limited PRN as it's covering one full time employee's coverage when they're not here.
A day in the life…
Wondering what a day in the life of a PRN MOHS Tech in Dermatology at The Iowa Clinic might look like?
- Arrive at work in the morning – no night shifts here!
- Provides professional assistance to assigned physician following established MOHS Tech standards and medical office procedures.
- Prepares microscopic slides on human tissue for diagnostic purposes.
- Maintains laboratory, equipment, and accurate records of quality assurance controls; assists with teaching and implementation of new procedures.
- Train staff on Mohs surgery histology as needed.
- Maintains awareness of applicable laws and/or regulations affecting area of responsibility and
makes recommendations for changes to ensure compliance.
- Leave in the evening – hooray for working standard clinic hours.

Qualifications
- Associate degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology
- HT(ASCP) certified/eligible preferred
- Previous work as a Mohs technician preferred.
Skills:
- Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate in English with people from diverse professional, educational, and lifestyle backgrounds both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to read and write legibly and understand/follow written and verbal directions.
- Must demonstrate ability to utilize effective decision-making and problem-solving techniques.
- Must possess knowledge of general laboratory and Histotechnology policies, procedures, and equipment (microscope, microtome machine) based on experience in the industry of histopathology. Must possess technical knowledge required to manage complex and/or multiple projects simultaneously, including significant systems integration initiatives using interface/integration standards.
- Must possess skills to operate business office machines, i.e., computer, fax, and photocopy equipment.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations and focused amid constant interruptions in a fast-paced environment.
