Team Description:

The Microfabrication Team, a division of the Brain Interfaces Hardware Department, designs, manufactures, and verifies the thin-film microelectrode array that records and relays neural signals to the body of the implant. The team operates an in-house cleanroom facility. 

Job Description & Responsibilities: 

As a Microfabrication Technician at Neuralink, you will be responsible for the production of our microelectrode arrays and collaborating with engineers to maintain equipment and processes within specification. As such, you will be instrumental in ramping production and accelerating Neuralink’s progress. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Operating equipment such as ASML, mask aligner, photoresist spin coater, reactive ion etcher, e-beam evaporator, sputter physical vapor deposition system, plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition, and wet sink 
  • Maintaining equipment calibration and performance
  • Maintaining process documentation and equipment documentation, including daily process logs and equipment logs 
  • Actively collecting data and visually detecting defects on production lines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ensuring product quality and conformance to design requirements
  • Keeping a clean, organized, and thoroughly maintained workspace

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Resourceful, flexible, and adaptable; no task is too big or too small
  • Strong self-discipline and integrity
  • Ability to work reliably with small and delicate components where precision is critical
  • Ability to maintain a clean and organized workspace
  • Ability to follow strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety protocols and quality standards
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic and constantly changing environment
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment 
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Basic familiarity with Google Suite (e.g., documents, spreadsheets, presentations)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a cleanroom 
  • Experience with design software such as K-Layout, L-Edit and Solidworks
  • Experience in a regulated medical device manufacturing environment

Additional Requirements: 

  • Ability to work within a cleanroom, including adhering to gowning and PPE requirements (e.g., masks) and spending long periods standing and walking
  • Ability to lift and transfer up to 25 pounds
  • Willing to work extended hours and weekends, as needed

Pay Transparency:

Based on California law, the following details are for California individuals only:

California Hourly Flat Rate:
$25/hr USD

Guidance on salary for this role will be determined according to the level at which you enter the organization, with the ability to gain more over time as you contribute.
