Medical Coder

MedVA, a reputable virtual assistant company in the healthcare industry, is currently seeking a skilled and Certified Medical Coder to join our team. As a Certified Medical Coder at MedVA, you will play a crucial role in accurately assigning appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes to medical services provided by healthcare providers. Your work will contribute to the smooth operation of the healthcare revenue cycle and ensure compliance with coding guidelines and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze medical records and documentation
• Assign accurate diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD-10 and CPT coding systems
• Ensure coding is in compliance with coding guidelines and regulatory requirements
• Collaborate with healthcare providers and other team members to clarify documentation and resolve coding discrepancies
• Stay updated with changes in coding guidelines and regulations
• Review and respond to coding-related queries and denials

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Medical Coder
• Certification in medical coding (such as CPC, CCS, or equivalent)
• Proficient in ICD-10 and CPT coding systems
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
• Experience in assigning diagnosis and procedure codes in various medical specialties
• Familiarity with coding software and electronic health record (EHR) systems
• Attention to detail and ability to work with accuracy and efficiency
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
