About the Role

As a Partner Manager, you’ll build and nurture relationships with partners in news, film / tv, and other media fields through 1:1 interactions, industry programs, and other partnerships. You’ll focus on building trust around OpenAI’s mission, defining product collaboration opportunities, and educating on OpenAI’s technology. 

You’ll spend time with media organizations and understand their process, their motivations, the challenges they face, and their professional landscape. You will facilitate a feedback loop between OpenAI and the media industry, effectively communicating our mission, vision, and goals while seeking feedback and sharing insights to inform product development and policy decisions. You’ll be responsible for building and executing strategies that cross an evolving number of industries.

This role is based in San Francisco, CA or New York, NY. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees.

In this role, you will:

• Build and nurture high-value relationships with media organizations across news, film / tv, and other media segments

• Represent OpenAI in external partner meetings and public engagements

• Create and support programs that enable OpenAI to connect with the media industry at scale

• Build a communication loop between OpenAI and media partners related to our latest product developments and partner feedback 

• Work closely with the product, design, legal, and communications teams and other key internal stakeholders to share partner perspectives

You might thrive in this role if you:

• Have 8-10+ years experience managing relationships with media partners in one or several industries; experience at or partnering with news publishers is a plus 

• Are deeply empathetic to our partners' challenges and can translate these to actionable feedback for our internal teams 

• Are deeply curious about how the media industry is thinking about AI tools

• Have exceptional communication skills and can distill complex technical concepts into conversations that are meaningful for media partners

• Thrive in a collaborative environment and enjoy working across teams of different background backgrounds and domain expertise

• Are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and can adapt to changing priorities and technologies

• Are resourceful and can find creative solutions to challenges

• Believe in the importance of transparency and authenticity in communication

• Are mission aligned with the goals of OpenAI
