Portfolio Management

Product Development Management
- Work with Product & Project Management to maintain a high-level schedule of projects linked to forecast resource allocation.
- Manage the product development pipeline to ensure new projects are scoped and planned at a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) level, awaiting execution.
- Ensure project execution follows NPD processes in a pragmatic and efficient manner.
- Ownership of the Mechatronics NPD process ensuring continuous review and improvement of the process.
- Ensure that financial & timing analyses for planned projects are prepared as part of the NPD process.
- Prepare Portfolio level yearly budgets (CAPEX & OPEX) and headcount submissions.
- Review project timelines and available resource pool to achieve product requirements, project costs and timing.
- Create and maintain transparent reporting tools for interdepartmental and stakeholder groups on projects, KPIs, and other portfolio matters.
- Maintain an online portal allowing self-serving of up-to-date project and resource status.
- Participate in project business cases and status reviews.
Engineering Leadership
- Pro-active participation as part of the Engineering Leadership team in reviewing and enhancing departmental strategies and processes that aims to improve the efficiency and performance of the Engineering department.
- Maintain and communicate a Portfolio Vision Document outlining the high level vision and expectations for the portfolio.
- Consistently promote and demonstrate the defined Engineering Values and Behaviors.
Safety
- Ensure the working environment is safe at all times and activities conducted are safe and don't harm self or other employees
- Maintain Safety compliance with the relevant legislation and regulations for safe working practices and functional compliance
- Eliminate risks in the working environment by conducting housekeeping, conducting risk assessments and working the line manager to eliminate or at least mitigate the hazards
- Report incidents such as near miss, accident or equipment damage using the reporting system
- Report incidents of any form of harassment, bullying or adverse behaviours
- Report any perceptions of deterioration in or concerns of the mental and emotional wellbeing of others
Design Quality Management
- Involved in Peer/Design Reviews of all technically applicable work.
- Ensure design concepts are peer reviewed by Technical Leadership
- Ensure refined designs are reviewed and approved by Technical Managers
Stakeholder Management
- Build relationships with Project Team members, Engineering Leadership & Management, Product Management, Operations and After Sales to determine and resolve issues associated with the project and product design.
- Escalate personnel issues to Executive Leadership where they cannot be resolved in the Project Team or Portfolio setting.
Best Practice
- Redefine the craft of Product Development using a pragmatic application of best practice Product Development techniques and methodologies.
- Choose and utilise appropriate tools, applications and workflows to ensure project delivery and resources are used in an optimised fashion.
- Manage engineering continuous improvement activities from feasibility to execution, to achieve departmental efficiencies and goals.
Innovation & Technology
- Keep abreast of latest technology trends and patterns in associated engineering fields, focusing on possible internal applications
- Encourage and foster a culture of innovation, technical creativity and curiosity.
- Proven technical excellence in specific engineering discipline, exhibiting a comprehensive breadth of knowledge in multiple areas of that engineering discipline.
