Your crew during this flight:
As a systems engineer for mechanical systems, you will be part of a dynamic and driven team responsible for defining requirements, devising verification strategies, and conducting corresponding test campaigns. Your role will also involve ensuring that all equipment sourced from suppliers align with the specific needs and requirements of Volocopter.
Your mission during this flight:
The role of a system engineer involves overseeing the development, verification, and testing of the internally and externally developed mechanical elements of the aircraft, to ensure it meets all product and certification requirements. You will work closely with your team to optimize the system definition, requirements, and verification, taking into account key factors such as usability, maintenance, costs, and timelines.
You will be responsible for defining testing requirements for both development and verification phases. Ultimately, your efforts will play a vital role in ensuring that the mechanical elements meet stakeholders' expectations and perform to the highest aerospace standards.
You will work autonomously and provide guidance to the rest of the system engineering team as well as other interfaces that depend on the systems engineering process. You will define development and verification strategies, and have a high influence on the development of our mechanical systems.
Your responsibilities will be:
- Generation and optimization of system engineering processes required to develop structures and mechanical components.
- Definition, specification, and development assurance for mechanical elements.
- Verification strategy definition - develop a plan for meeting the requirements, including certification plans and exchanges with the certification authority (e.g. EASA)
- Structural testing definition and supervision: oversee the testing process to ensure compliance, and address any deviations or non-compliances.
- Lifecycle management of supplier systems.
Check in your professional skills:
- Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering degree (M.Sc., Ph.D.)
- Minimum 5+ years of professional experience as a systems engineer in mechanical systems in aerospace industry.
- Proven experience in aircraft development on lightweight composite structures and rotors.
- Experience with supplier selection, evaluation, and management.
- Experience with mechanical systems and/or structures certification.
- Experience in certification according to aerospace standards.
- A structured way of working and a high sense of accountability.
- Experience with prototyping and testing.
