Mechanical Design Engineer - RA Lighting R&P Engineering

Full-Time

As a Mechanical Design Engineer in our diverse, capable and humorous team at Range Area (RA) Lighting & Home Electronics, you will take part in the development of new lighting products and components including accessories and other products found in our range.

Your main focus will be in the area Mechanical/Electrical solutions for luminaries and light sources. You will actively search information, inspiration and knowledge contributing to finding sustainable technical solutions in the areas of Mechanical design and LED/low power products. You will work with an array of materials and production techniques, anything from injection molded polymers to textiles, wood and metal striving to always fulfill all aspects of democratic design.

You will be planning and conducting your own projects and deliver the ready product and component, documented in a part centric way in SolidWorks and Plus. You will do this together with the development team and suppliers around the world. The products will be a part of our future IKEA lighting products for years to come and you will also have a responsibility to maintain, improve and update your part of the products and documentation throughout the product lifecycle.

We are looking for you who are passionate about creating the best mechanical design solution for the customer at the right price, with the right quality, with beautiful design and with a clear focus on sustainability. We believe that you have a University Degree in Mechanical Engineering as well as theoretical and practical background within Mechanical Engineering and its impact of the value chain - from raw material to the co-worker and customer perspective. You have an interest in electronics and working experience in a product development environment.

You are experienced and knowledgeable within mechanical design engineering in terms of drawing technique, technical solutions and design for manufacturing, production techniques etc. You know how to design a product in the most cost-efficient way with expected high quality.  Furthermore, you have knowledge in mechanical requirements and global test methods and standards. To succeed in this role, you need to excel in working with a 3D CAD tools, preferably SolidWorks. Experience from part centric structure and PLM tools is appreciated.
