Roles and Responsibilities:

Job Summary/Overview:

SAS mechanical systems project manager in construction team responsible for code compliance, safety, and system performance for new construction, remodel construction, and sustaining operation evaluation of existing facilities. This position has a strong focus on Compressed Air and Process Vacuum systems, equipment installation, handover plan, and project closeout.

 

Specific Job Duties:

SAS mechanical systems project manager responsible for code compliance, safety, and system performance for new construction, remodel construction, and sustaining operation evaluation of existing facilities.

Support internal counterpart design team that will manage consultant design team to develop, review and approve SAS site Mechanical specifications and design packages for commercial/process systems.

Manage Construction General Contractor activities related to new and retrofit construction.

Monitor field installations for large engineering design and construction projects while focusing on safety, quality, schedule, and cost.

Performing regular site field observations for quality and drawing / specification compliance checks.

Working knowledge of US building codes and plumbing codes.

Identifying potential design and construction issues and driving the resolution of the issues to closure.

Identifying, tracking, managing, resolving, and communicating project issues during all phases of project-related work.

Lead strategic fab and support project planning for mechanical systems related to new and retrofit construction.

Develop, review, and approve SAS site construction specifications related to mechanical piping, equipment, and the associated distribution rooms and buildings.

Provide technical guidance to internal counterpart design team during facility construction design for review and approval of mechanical connections and materials of construction.

Develop and maintain with site Operations, Maintenance, Engineering and EHS teams the equipment compliance database and own related code and regulatory compliance initiatives.

Participation in strategic fab and support building planning including review and approval of all first of the kind process tool mechanical materials and finding critical path solutions for code and regulatory concerns with those materials.

Interfacing with site Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and EHS teams to audit that existing piping, equipment, and secondary containment meets applicable codes and standards.

Interface between Construction General Contractor, Subcontractor, Consultant Design Team, and various SAS Owner organizations.

Identifying, tracking, managing, resolving, and communicating project issues during construction including documenting Site Observation Reports and managing construction punch list items to resolution.

Proactively identifying, managing, and mitigating project risk points for safety and code compliance.

Performing regular site field observations inspections to verify existing conditions of previously installed ductwork, piping, and equipment, meet safety and code standards.

A strong focus on equipment installation, handover plan, and project closeout.

Managing stakeholders in a customer-service oriented team.

The candidate must demonstrate strong leadership skills required to interface with stakeholders across SAS Manufacturing and Engineering organizations and to interface with general contractors to meet the aggressive goals and timelines during all aspects of the project.

Skills and Qualifications:

Education, Training, Certification(s) and Minimum years of experience required

Bachelors Degree in Engineering Field.

4 year degree and 7+ years of project experience focused on HVAC, exhaust, plumbing, chilled water/heating hot water systems, compressed dry air generation and distribution in an industrial setting.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Software, and Tools

Ability to read and understand design plans, shop drawings, and equipment specifications.

Familiarity with design and installation of facility equipment, or design and construction of industrial buildings.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills including presentation skills are required for communication of technical information to diverse audiences.

Ability to work with others, a self-starter with results-driven focus.

Capability to assume additional responsibilities.

Ability to effectively manage time

Aptitude for documentation and data analysis using MS Office programs.

Ability to learn custom and internally developed software programs and to interface with programmers to develop and manage databases.

Reliable and punctual attendance is required.

Permanent right to work in US and ability to work overtime / on non-scheduled days as required.

 

Desired:

Registered Professional Engineer in state of Texas, or registered in another state with ability to transfer preferred.

Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred. Program Management Professional (PgMP) preferred.

Korean Bi-lingual preferred.
