We have a current opening for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic at our Sacramento, CA office.

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will report to the Shop Manager and be responsible for delegating and prioritizing incoming work orders to other mechanics. Work orders include servicing, troubleshooting, repairing, and the rebuilding of major components on heavy equipment and vehicles. The mechanic ensures accurate diagnosis, repair, and/or replacement of components.

Success in the position is achieved through the following duties & responsibilities:

  • Promotes safe and functional work environment through maintaining a clean and organized shop
  • Creates and applies work orders to ensure accurate and consistent repairs of equipment
  • Prioritizes and delegates work orders to the team of mechanics
  • Utilizes mechanical expertise to reduce downtime of company equipment
  • Complete scheduled preventative maintenance service on equipment and fleet vehicles
  • Diagnose malfunctioning equipment, repair, and rebuild as required
  • Operates vehicles and equipment of varying sizes and types to ensure proper working order

Special Considerations:

  • Union Affiliation - post onboarding and training, this position will be subject to being part of Operating Engineers Local 3
  • Work Hours/Travel - travel to jobsites throughout Northern CA is required, including some overnight/night shift work

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of previous experience as a mechanic working on construction equipment and trucks
  • Automotive electrical experience, hydraulic experience, etc.
  • Must have valid Class C driver’s license with clean DMV
  • Experience and skill in operating tools, equipment, parts and procedures utilized during the repair and services of vehicles and equipment
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose need repair of equipment and vehicles
  • Able to work effectively in an independent and team environment
  • Class A License, preferred
  • Experience with welding/fabrication, preferred
  • Experience supervising and mentoring a mechanic staff and prioritizing work orders, preferred

Salary Range

  • $30.00/hour - $35.00/hour
    • Note: This position is non-exempt hourly
