The Opportunity
The MiW, Consultant is a full-time, permanent opportunity reporting to the MiW Director. The MiW Consultant will be supporting the McDonald’s in Walmart portfolio including playing a key role in collaborating with the cross functional corporate team, vendor management and relationship building. Key stake holders include, Walmart Canada, the MiW Advisory Board, Field Service, Franchisees and our Leadership Team.

Principal Accountabilities
In addition to following McDonald’s policies and procedures, principal accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

People/Relationship Management

  • Supports, coordinates and tracks the performance of staff across various disciplines that support the MiW portfolio.
  • Leads cross functional efforts to create, implement and measures the execution of the MiW business plan
  • Works directly with the MiW Owner Operator Advisory Board to facilitate strong collaboration and engagement in the MiW business plan.
  • Provides coaching and mentoring to field stakeholders like Business and Operations consultants and Finance that can help them grow the MiW Business.
  • Role models and reinforces the leadership behaviors and advanced influencing skills to gain commitment from Franchisees, Field Leaders and Vendors.
  • Provides rewards and recognition for Franchisees and Management Teams.
  • Manages and leverages relationships with important vendors including, but not limited to, Walmart Canada and CRBE.
  • Maintains professional relationships with peers in other corporations and outside organizations.
  • Track progress on all deployment projects and activities, reporting status to stake holders

QSC/Sales Building

  • Protects the McDonald's brand to ensure that their restaurants meet McDonald's QSC, safety and sanitation standards.
  • Develops short- and long-term plans and strategies that help build the top and bottom line.
  • Partners with key stakeholders in Marketing, Digital, Delivery and Finance to ensure strategies work for the portfolio.
  • Leads, supports and mentors those responsible for working directly with Franchisees to improve the results of restaurant systems (scheduling, ordering, training, planned maintenance, etc.) and to create and accomplish long-term restaurant objectives.
  • Partners with cross functional groups to implement and execute new products and processes within the MiW portfolio.
  • Supports efforts to define and track service-level objectives for important MiW initiatives.
  • Works directly with vendors or suppliers to rectify escalations impacting restaurant performance or the experience of guests.

Financial Management

  • Ensures that the MiW portfolio meets the planned financial commitments to the system.
  • Works directly with Finance and Business Insights to ensure restaurant tactics are financially successful and contributing to the long-term goals of the portfolio.
  • 5+ years of McDonalds restaurant (or other QSR) operations experience demonstrating an expert knowledge of operations procedures and key restaurant performance metrics. 
  • Experience participating in cross functional teams to drive business performance.
  • Exceptional relationship building, influence and communication skills specific to McDonald’s franchise and corporate organization. 
  • Strong organizational skills to coordinate multiple projects at any given time. 
  • Ability to collaborate with numerous stakeholders and demonstrate the OneTeam approach.  
  • Ability to navigate through an ambiguous, ever-changing environment.
  • A Self-starter who can identify the important priorities while multi-tasking.
  • Ability to travel periodically within Canada.
