Expectations:
 
The Material Handler is responsible for the safe and efficient movement, storage and transfer of material within the facility. Key responsibilities include operating forklifts, maintain accurate inventory records, assisting with assembly operations, and working as a team to ensure a smooth workflow.
 
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Material Handling: Aid in the manufacture and shipment of quality products by picking, preparing, inspecting, moving, storing, transferring, packing, and accounting for materials.
  • Inventory Control: Use manual and electronic means to identify, count, issue, receipt, and store materials for inventory purposes. Implement procedures for inventory control and conduct regular audits.
  • Forklift Operation: Operate and inspect vehicles and related equipment, including forklifts, to move, store, and transfer materials safely and efficiently.
  • Assembly Operations: Operate, monitor, and inspect assembly machines, tools, dip tanks, paint lines, impregnators, and other related equipment to produce a finished product. Assist with set-up and material handling as necessary.
  • Quality Assurance: Pack, inspect, and prepare products/materials for shipment or transfer. Ensure compliance with reliability procedures, process control requirements, and testing procedures.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow all safety procedures and wear prescribed safety equipment. Report any unsafe acts or conditions immediately.
  • Documentation: Accurately report work performed, inspection findings, and time and materials used.
  • Housekeeping: Maintain a neat and clean work area, ensuring materials and tools are properly stored and waste is removed.
  • Communication: Practice good communication with Engineers, Planners, and Supervision to ensure product quality and smooth operations.
  • Continuous Improvement: Actively participate in SRP, VPDS, and other company initiatives designed to improve workplace efficiency, eliminate waste, and improve quality.
  • Flexibility: Willing to unload trucks and transfer material from outside locations during inclement weather conditions. Open to working daily and weekend overtime as business conditions require it.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.
 
EDUCATION AND SKILL REQUIREMENT: 
  • Experience: Forklift: Experience in operating fork trucks is required.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to use manual and electronic inventory systems.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 45 pounds and perform tasks involving fine and gross motor skills.
  • Safety Knowledge: Understanding and application of workplace safety procedures.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  
Schedule: Full-Time Monday-Thursday 6:00am-4:30pm, alternating Fridays
Pay: $18-20/hour
