Primary Function of Position:
The material handler is responsible for supplying internal operations and other process flows with production material and, if necessary, auxiliary and operating materials.
They must be certified to and excel in a minimum of 3 key tasks from the following:
- receiving (tote and bulk)
- parts put-away (tote and bulk)
- material transfers (MT)
- tock transfer orders (STO)
- systems packing (all carts)
- Finish goods kit assembly
- global inventory replenishment to logistics warehouse.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Receiving materials, physically and systemically, to be used in production operations and engineering projects.
- Physically and systemically moving approved Production materials from manufacturing facility site into Logistics storage locations.
- Point-of-use parts replenishment for designated production lines.
- Fulfilling and transacting MT requests, received either electronically or via hard copy.
- Fulfilling and transacting STOs
- Packing System carts
- Performing systemic transactions in both SAP and ISI’s Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- Complying with materials management policies and processes, including First In/ First Out (FIFO) material rotation, 5-S, Safety, Quality, and Good Warehousing/Housekeeping processes.
- Operating material handling equipment (forklift, pallet jack, order-picking machine).
- Ensure maintenance of handling equipment is current, communicated, and accurately tracked
- Communicating via e-mail the status of material movements and transactions to appropriate internal customers.
- Strong attention to priority, detail, and organization
- Coordinate disposition of non-conforming material
Skills, Experience, Education, & Training:
- Warehouse technician with a minimum of 1 year of work experience in a production environment
- Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Ability to lift material up to 30 lbs.
- Extensive walking and repetitive physical motion (squatting, bending, lifting, climbing ladders) is required.
- Experience and/or certification in operating material-handling equipment preferred.
- Experience with computer systems (MS Office, SAP, Agile, WMS) preferred
- Inventory control experience (cycle counting, physical inventories) preferred.
- Ability to effectively communicate with peers and internal customers, both verbally and written.
- Ability to understand and implement the basic material flow from stockroom to finished product, bill of material structure, and cycle counting procedures
- Ability to work in a controlled environment room, this includes wearing clean room gowns and boots
- Ability to work as a team player
- Ideally first experiences with Kanban cycles
- Ideally has experience with 5S
- High reliability and accuracy
- Be a motivated self-starter and work team player
