About the job
As a Material & Technology Engineer within Material and Innovation, you will play an important role in the journey towards our 2030 goal. You will work to investigate and introduce alternative materials, supporting the movement to our sustainable targets, anchored in Material Direction. You will work with internal and external stakeholders towards more sustainable product development for IKEAs products and help to build roadmaps to meet the Material Direction goals.
You will be responsible to initiate and lead material related development projects and work closely with Material & Innovation Developers. You will be an important link to the product development teams, Range Innovation, Public Affairs and the requirements team, to secure the implementation of new materials and innovations. You will also secure knowledge sharing and lead material direction related trainings,e.g. helping to understand the best material-application fit and making better material choices
Job Description
Positions in this sub-family are responsible for leading, managing or performing the engineering operations of the organization. Depending on the organization, activities may involve various branches of the engineering profession, for example electronic, environmental, mechanical, maintenance or plant engineering. Activities include designing, constructing, testing and operating equipment; ensuring standards of quality, cost, safety, reliability, timeliness and performance are met in production processes; interpreting plans, drawings and specifications; providing technical support to the organization's sales force for technical product sales; and industry-specific engineering activities.
About you
To be successful in this role we see that you have a background textile engineering and introducing new materials. Solid knowledge in the textile material field and strong interest in innovations and new materials. You are skilled in managing multiple stakeholders and driving change with good communication and networking abilities. Your passion for affordable sustainability reflects in the developments that you will lead. You enjoy being on the factory floor doing trials and developing proof of concepts for new solutions. You embrace renewable and recycled of materials, and you stay up to date and is curious about what is happening in the industry. Your strength is leading in the unknown with strong project leadership skills. You have experience in working end-to-end from the raw material into the final product, securing safety and all requirements needed.
